Right, looks like somebody was thinking what I was thinking at exactly the same time. But, ugh, why the forum doesn't show the hours/minutes or something? =_=

I'd be more interested in the video version since I bet it won't work on my computer and I can't remember much of it from the compo due to passing out several times.. I even had to skip the rebels demo afterwards because I needed a few minutes to walk around and clear my head

you don't need a high-end pc for this. What are the specs of your pc?

I guess one lesson here is that if a good presentation of your demo and fair results are important to you, you should be careful with where you compete. If you dont feel treated right, then look for some other party or competition and let the people who only care about having fun enjoy themselves with "et skrit til h0jre" type of productions.

Sure everyone makes mistakes, but I still get pissed off if I for example have spent many weekends, evenings and most of my vacation on a demo and the organizer cant even get the entry into the voting system correctly, which was what happened to me at lcp the other year.

If the organizers and voters dont take things seriously, then they dont deserve serious productions.
But seeing what certain people who so often are seen at parties, in party crews, juries and on pouet, actually produce on the scene, if they actually do produce anything, I understand that they cant have much idea about how it feels to get screwed over in a compo.

you know you're a real scener when:
- you been screwed over in a compo before..
- twice..
- by the same organizer..

- and still enter a prod for the third time...

why the hell do all the other ppl keep bitching about this? the ppl that are actually involved in the production or was present at the party do not! so shut it or come do the voting yourself ;)

I thought demoscene was about doing what you enjoy to do together with friends and then show it to even more friends. not to win ketchup, vhs-tapes, pocals, eliteness or whatever it is you hope to gain! if you want to do something that gives you fairness and money I sugest you get a second job or something.

For me it's not about money, the prizes at the parties where I compete usually consist of things like a gold painted floppy disk, but it's still a competition and I hate it when the conditions and results arent fair.
You or the people involved in the production might not get care, but I get annoyed when someone apparently has put in quite some effort and is rewarded with a low place and explanations along the lines of "people were drunk, tired and we're only in it for the lolz"

hollowman: maybe I think the same if I ever start produsing stuff worth watching. atm I am just doing it because I enjoy doing it. not to get fair rankings :)

Well, there are 2 clear motivations around then:

fun: doing a demo because you know how to do it, and you know how to put sobre cubes bouncing, or even bouncing chicks videos. fun!

competition: spend a bit (a lot) of time on something that sometimes isn't really fun but that you will be much more proud of at the end of it, and you'll try to compete with other quality group. it's easy to get annoyed if someone from the other group beats you with bouncing chicks

I mean, seriously, if you're going to release a joke prod so you will have a good laugh watching it on the demoshow, that's fine, but would be cool if you could also ask to get disqualified because isn't really a serious prod.

Uhm, I can't believe how metalvoze didn't gave their prize to farbrausch. I just hate that lack of respect.

Dunno why people have so high expectations of small demopartys in norway. Too many adults with a mind of a 14 year old there, and ofcourse that people vote for their friends bigtime.

I really didnt want to answer this thread but this is getting ridiculous.

So the voters are guilty for voting for entries they like, and the demomakers are guilty for making demos for fun, entering them, and not asking them to get disqualified.

...where did I go astray again?

I mean JESUS, we got second to a 4k, the Rebels demo LOST TO ISO! And who's complaining? Someone who didn't even enter.

I hate to say this, Trace, but who fucking cares?

What next, people complaining about Rob is Jarig getting ent... oh wait...

next, suggestions of separating democompos and lamerdemocompos. then conclusion that its already been done before a few years back and that both compos were still boring as fuck and the results were still fucked and biased and that we're obviously still caring way too much about it when the whole thing should only be about doing prods and showing them on the bigscreen.

Gargaj: Would it be any different If I had released anything there? I don't think so.

This is just an open discussion of different view of the demoscene, if you get annoyed of the discussion go to a Random Image thread or something more entertaining.

It's not just me, a couple of people here also thought about it in that way. And hey, as I say I can understand the thing of just having fun, doing prods because it's fun, getting drunk and all that. I undestant that view, now, try to understant another view.

I think that Sdw comparison with the snowboard competitions is the post that expresses better what I'm talking about.
