juvenileshithead: how does that ever change that I don't like the attitude?

great! someone with straight answers to my questions!

Puryx:
ok so if publics choice != jurys choice, is it ok or not ok to inform our fans on our webpage and social networks about the vote or is that not in line with the jurys choice?

and do we need to have a groupname that is unknown to the public outside the closest friends of the jury to be sure that we are not getting any namevotes ?

if we in the end get namevotes anyhow, are we allowed to joke about the fact that we do or is this not in line with the jurys thought of what can cause embarasment outside the demoscene?

and last: is there any possibility that the jury might be biased? I can't find anything about it in the FAQ so I thought it would be best to ask.

If the semi-decent democoder and the juvenileshithead musician want to have their prods removed from the competition, what is the best way of doing so? do we really need to winnuke95 the sceneawards server?

would be great to have those questions cleared out. Thank you very much.

and seriously, I know I'm trolling but I find this whole discussion ridiculous, it really feeds the troll in me, I', sorry but I cant help it. I mean, even plek agreed with me for a while there, so something can't be right.

i do agree.

rez: stop caring, stop being so fucking sensitive. i love your intros. deadline loves your intros. and many other sceners with half a brain do. so take that info and plant into your fucking brain and appreciate it, because it's cool.

rez & dub (who I hate more than life itself): go on and make more cool 64ks. it's awesome.

ph and i'm still gonna dropkick your head off, but you know, that's how it is :) when it comes to serious matters i'd rather support you on a righteous issue than be a dickhead for no reason.

There should be a cage fight award
Of course it's not about WHO won the public choice, it's HOW the award was won. If people felt that Razor 1911 had won the award fair and square, there would have been NO problem. So please quit yapping about 'the nordic conspiracy', taste in demos is obviously not the issue here.

About fair and square: There were (previously unwritten) gentlemanly rules about promotion of oneself in the public choice award. Razor 1911 didn't follow these rules, which of course was completely unfair to everybody else. The awards let it slide one time, but reacted by including the need for gentlemanly conduct into the rules. To make the award MORE FAIR. They saw the award going in a direction, said to themselves "This is not how we want to run this award." (shouldn't be about namevoting/number of friends on the internet/botnets), and changed the rules accordingly.

I'm sorry Razor 1911 got grief over it, but I can't see how they could have an issue with the rule change itself.

That said: How can rez not have the right to say "I don't want my releases to be part of the award, please take them out"? It seems pretty obvious that he should have that right; denying it just seems petty, vindictive, and not very genteel.

I might sound like a conspiracy nut but here goes:

I found it funny no one addressed the elephant in the room; the fact that the name Razor1911 is attached to a well known release group, and that dubmood and co are only in the demo division. So really, fans of said release group could namevote something without even looking at the prod. They could namevote out of mindless fanaticism because their download of Starcraft 2 worked.

</endconspiracy>

There's a certain strange vibe I get from reading this thread.
Yes, sometimes my mind makes a connection to a juicy tale I once heard.

The story goes like this:
"Woman runs around at a party, showing her boobs to everybody, then acts surprised/insulted when people call her a slut afterwards"

...wait, what?

He does indeed have that right. If his prod does in fact win, he can refuse to accept the award. That's entirely his right (or, I guess, to be entire correct: the right of the team which worked on the prod, because most likely it's more than one person).

However: what he does _not_ have the right to, is to say "People aren't allowed to like my prod". "Public Choice" is public choice. It would be equivalent to someone releasing a piece of music but say that nobody is allowed to like it or to appreciate it, which would be idiotic at best.

What I was trying to say is that the reaction you can witness right now was foreseeable.

If you (and I'm trying to express myself cautiously, sorry if I fail at that) recruit random people to vote for your prods, people will call you out for that.
If you complain about finger-pointing or changes to the rules that were triggered by your success, then people will post *drama* on pouet.
If you do "things" at a party, well.... people will make jokes about it. Endlessly.

Also: *drama*.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna hide under a rock for a while.

As far as I can tell he does not object to people liking his production, but to having it in the awards. Those two things are not the same, so your argument does not hold up.

How about the right to control the use of his own creation? Or did you suddenly stop believing in that?

dubmood: your bait is almost hiding the hook.

Members of the jury do NOT decide about entries in the publics choice /since they're... publics choice). Yes we have DISCUSSIONS about the entries - just like here on pouet.

And for SOME reason these new rules seems to piss you off, which doesn't make any sense at all.

The demo/intro/whatever should speak for itself.
