well, I could give it to you - but otherwise you will have to Search for "Karsh Kale - One Step Beyond"

we'll probably have to publish it on the prod-site aswell :)
watch out tomorrow.

the files are standard on every vista version, we checked that out long before the compo.

Quisten: yeah, people that don't have the files probably deleted the stuff that was in their document folders (they're stored there, right?)

puryx, right, thanks for the head up.
until now i thought we're talking something like canyon.mid that would have been magically included in a softsynth (see why i was wondering about that thing called synctracker). i'm probably too oldschool with my 1 year old xp right there. :)

now, what if people have deleted that sample-tune from their vista-installation? they'd still have to go with the video-version instead, wouldn't they. :)

as far as I know, then the intro will run, but without sound :)

Dalezy: somebody put a link to the tune on last.fm either on this thread or in the prod comments. For the record, it's NOTHING like just a replay of the original tune. They took some samples from it, and remixed it in a really cool way to make a totally different tune.

ofcourse real musicians would have used actual kernel system files to generate sounds, none of that fancy audio standard documents. but you know norwegians, lazy oilmonger seal-bashing pantsies.

i once made a 4k which played explorer.exe

hmm i wonder if it sounds different on vista! :-)

psnoice: the link to the song on last.fm only plays a small snippet of the song - most of the destinct sound in the 4k is taken from the very first 4-5 seconds of the song (which is not played on last.fm)

ps: yeah damn norwegians, lazy since 1998..

Well, I could do an mp3 with "selected" clips from the orignial song by Karsh Kale, and extract the audio from the 4k, and put both up on my server for download.
I guess that would pretty much make me look like a major asshole, so I'm not sure about it...

eh
it would make you look jealous, mostly.

which doesn't, in fact, look very good on you, especially considering the awesomeness of the receptor track.
