HD25 Fleece Turn worlds best Headphones into Universe best Headphones!

eebliss, my ears are fine thank you. The Beyer Dynamics I tried was the DT770, which is in my opinion, a piece of crap with only bass and trebles (as far as I can remember, I tried those 3 years ago at least). Probably good for DJing, but I'm a musician :-D

cp, I have a hd25 on my head while typing this. You made me curious speaking about the velour pads, and then I remembered there was some extra pads in the box. Just didn't notice they were different from the one mounted ! So thanks, because I really like the hd25, but it's really painful to wear for long periods of time with the standard pads !
Still, I prefer the hd265, more comfy to wear, and with warmer low end... (yes eebliss, I can still hear the low frequencies :)

I got the dt990 pro, and the only thing i think is really annoying about them is the 50+ hours they take to "burn in". For the first good while the bass is dull and unprecise, the middle is flat and the top is whiny, but i have yet to find users that gave them their time to start to shine, that utter regrets about getting them (dt990 pro).

Another thing I like about them other than the sound (when given time to mature) is the material. No leather on the ears, no pressure on the ear, and the "can" really is a can large enough to fit even the biggests ear.

the semi open design will properbly make them useless for any recording musician or dj tho, but for mixing down, in a quiet place, they are absolutely awsome....after a good while...i dunno, perhaps those that test them should just leave them on with music and go to bed and work and then have another go at them. ridiculous but it thats what it takes, right?

I love that the cans connect through a piece of iron, top choice, so why is the rest of it build from flimsy plastic shit?, why are even the best of the best headphones always made from shitty parts? its a conspiracy!

At home I am very happy about my AKG K271S but would love to have some smaller once for my ipod. Anyone have anything to recommend? (no not koss portapros, I hate the sound and they bother everyone around me).

gloom: They weren't that expensive since my personal gimp (concrete) bought them in the states and smuggled them home through customs in his rectum. Here in Norway... over twice the price.

The pair is without a doubt the best sounding headphones I've ever owned. Too bad they couldn't handle my abuse. They are also the coolest/best looking pair ever.

I tried to dismantle them, but was unable to due to Grado glueing everything together so tightly. When my headphones develops cracks/hairlines in the drivers I usually buy replacement drivers and solder them in, but Grado Norway wanted around 900 kroners, excluding tax, for a single driver.

I'll probably sell them stating "they sound best at really low volumes". The "grattle" is only present when playing at higher volumes. ;)

Right guys, you may be able to help me out here.

I'm looking for a pair of sub £100 cans, but I'm going for the retro look. Obviously build and audio quality are pretty big factors as I'll be using them on both iPod and my old NSX360.

I have two in mind so far:

Koss PRO4AAT
Sony MDR-V6

Any suggestions or advice?

I got Fleece for my AKG 271 studio headphones aswell - FLEECE FTW!!!!

I'm happy with the DT770 pro, its excessive bass-end fades away with time, but the response still go really low.

Went from HD595s to a set of HD650s....pretty amazing sound as far as my ears are concerned.



Would like to try those Denons that someone mentioned earlier...they look pretty decent too!

tbh, they look like they could survive a nuclear blast, what's the sound quality like? Plus, I'd imagine they've had a pretty good run-in by now. ;)

my (modest) contribution :

Sennheister HD-580 Pro. Had them for almost ten years (bought in 2000) and they are the absolute best headphones I have ever used. The only downside is that I use them so much that listening to music on anything other than very high-end monitors is kind of a let-down!

and i just bought the dbi 700 pro (they look the same as the 705)


i like them except for the highs which are a bit to pronounced for my taste

I'm looking for a pair. I have 200$CAD (188,20$ USD at the moment).
They are for my synths (Moog Little Phatty Stage II, David Smith Evolver...) but I would like something great overall.
