TUM?

i agree to freeze, canceling the vector compo realy sucks (our 4K postscript demo had to got to modern tools gfx :|! ) and preselecting two songs in the ogg music compo sucks also (paniq...organizing the compo and joining with an entry is not a good idea!!! when somebody is organizing a compo, somebody else should do the preselection!) but i had a good time, the party was realy nice. see you next year.
Quite liked the tUM*2005...overall a nice work you Orga-Dudes did...will return next year!
the system of giving metal rings representing 2 euro extra "pfand" with any bottle sold over the counter is UTTERLY RETARDED AND USELESS. especially if you don't give ppl their money back...
other than that, it was a fine party, will be back next year. probably. :-)

havoc: that system is pretty ok, you just must remember to also return the bottle and the metal ringy if you want your money back :-)
uncle-x, yes well, to keep it simple: next time i'll remember not to buy any drinks under such stupid conditions. if TUM doesn't want my money, i'll be happy to spend it at the local supermarket or doner.
oh and btw, i didn't actually ask any money back at all. i had a ringy already and i just wanted to buy another bottle of coke for the way home, but they wouldn't let me (not without buying another ringy anyway.. yah right).

havoc: but did you have an empty bottle (bought from the partyplace) as well? since the whole idea of the "ringy + bottle" thing is to try to keep the partyplace slightly cleaner, and "no bottle but a ringy" is worthless in that sense.
anyway i don't mind the system. its cool enough that you can actually buy beer at the partyplace :-)

uncle-x, i don't keep empty bottles indeed.. actually i'm quite used to a situation where orgo's are *happy* if you leave your empty bottles and crates, coz it makes them a load of money. (i would like to use this space to thank all visitors of outline in previous years for their kind cooperation! :))
We found Havocs brain at the partyplace.

please tell me what tracks you entered, and i tell you exactly why we preselected them.
i did the preselection together with sonic, and we made our choices (subjectively, of course) based on the (hearable) effort put in the tracks.
of course we did not like many of the entries we selected, and we liked some of those better that we did not play. but this is not about the tracks we feel emotionally attached to, but about quality. we could have a lengthy discussion about the definition of quality, but let me define it for you:
quality is, what the compo organizer thinks it is. if you want to know whether your track has quality, try to get my (or someone elses opinion who has been compo organizer in the past) opinion before the party starts.
secondarily, this year we had just too many qualitative entries (different than last year!). we had the limit of one hour (which is also about 40 minutes more than breakpoint!), and that limit was reached before we could play the lesser-effort-tunes. i'm thinking about asking all the people whose tunes i'd like to drop to me next year, and asking them which other tune i should drop instead... i just cant drop someone else instead of you, when he's put a hearable effort in his track - guess what they will say!
thirdly, also based on the stress we have with organizing the music compos, we usually maintain the right to enter our own tracks to the compo, considered we subject ourselves to our own standards. we played our tracks to each other and commented on it, and they were definitely in. yes, you may consider it smelly, and i guess it would be a bit more fair if we'd just raise the entrance fee for compensation. >:)

Additional info from D.Fox (the superhero behind Partymeister):massive fuckings to tum orgas for renaming the entry filenames.
Since many/most releasefiles are named release.zip/entry.zip or newupload.zip (updated/fixed reuploads before the deadline) it is useful to rename the entries. As an additional feature you'll find an particular release very fast.

Well, the deposit with the ring has another reason: People are allowed to bring their own beer from supermarkets but we don't like it, when they bring their supermarket bottles to the infodesk/foodsupport to get the (mostly) higher deposit. Without the deposit it ends up seeing drunken people (like some drunken MaWi guys at Breakpoint 2003) smasihng the bottles with a hammer. I wasn't there but I can understand organizers don't want to collect pieces of glass from the meadows (again Breakpoint 2003) in a cold and rainy whether a second time. That's why tUM and BP have the bottle deposit rules. To quote Chaos after the BP 2004 prizegiving: "Do you smell it? ... No beer!" Cleaning up the party place is often a lot of work. The deposit rules are just to remind people not to make it harder than it should be _or_ to pay at least for their left-overs. We've seen this system works. If you want, I'll make some extra infomation at the next party where I'm an organizer for you (or others) who don't understand it the first time. ;)uncle-x, i don't keep empty bottles indeed.. actually i'm quite used to a situation where orgo's are *happy* if you leave your empty bottles and crates, coz it makes them a load of money. i claim that only a stupid and scene-clueless moron would name a release filename like that. such stuff should be dsisqualified right away. :P
madenmann, ok, if visitors start demolishing your property without such rules, my objections are quite irrelevant indeed. i have to admit that option never crossed my mind, most probably because i've never experienced any such cases in any of the parties i've organised. however, i still think the rule sucks in the sense that it affects all visitors, most notably the wellbehaved majority, instead of singling out the few with malicious intentions. to be more specific, i wouldn't charge extra return fees, but i'd personally throw out anyone who thinks it's fun to demolish our bottles with a hammer, or any other crap like that.
i am looking forward to your "pfand-workshop" at the next TUM btw ;)

FWIW, at Breakpoint we don't use additional "rings" or stamps to secure the deposit. It's simply "return the bottle, get the money"-thing. Upside compared to TUM system: Poor sceners are motivated to gather empty bottles from the meadow to return them for fresh new beer :)
Yeah, we do get some external bottles returned, but in the big picture this doesn't hurt much.

to me it's quite valuable, in fact. we have changed the date of our party so that 2006 can be our first realistic attempt at a multiplatform event. that means that our crowd is (presumably) going to change quite a bit in composition. any information that helps me avoid or at least prepare for any mishaps, such as the bottle-smashing, is much appreciated indeed. :-)
and for completeness' sake, at the previous outline parties (2004 and 2005) we sold all bottles (beer, 1.5l pop, red bull, etc) for a fixed price of 1 euro. nobody asked for return fees, we just put some empty crates on every few tables and people used that to get rid of their empty bottles. in both years we got more bottles returned than we bought, and little to none broken glass on the premises. hopefully we'll one day be able to return to this system, but for next year, knowing what i know now, it's unfortunately not really an option anymore :/

and imo, this is the best option, i remember some peeps who were dead broke and still able to get helluva drunk, just because they collected bottles. =)
Where's the download of Marijform - Nuance? I want to watch it here so badly! :(
perhaps one critic about the times the competitions have been shown or played. better times would have been nice...

So what do you think are "better times"? :)
freeze: we're on it. unfortunately we ran into a problem with the copyrighted track, RIAA fuckup and some other guys who'd penetrate us for sure if we do so. (hello EMI, i love you)
the other issue is, that we had to agree with the organizer that they won't spread it in this version, as they are going to release everything under a creative commons license.
but we have 2 solutions for you without getting in serious trouble with those rightclaimfuckers (called lawyers of the big business and stuff):
1. releasing the production without the music (nah) and you have to put in the track by yourself (like with WinUAE and kickrom)
2. (we chose that one). We (malik trey and gendrift...) are doing a remixed version of the current track at the moment. We will release this version as soon as possible. And for the true party feeling, you could replace the track by yourself (hey, you will get the best experience when using the live version of bob marley - no woman no cry)
but if there are claims NOW for the current version without the music, then i'll release it. no problem, but maybe in the next 2 days the final version should be online.
and if nothing helps, drop me a line :)

perhaps a little bit earlier... and not delayed at 2 or 3 O´clock in the morning...
i think it should be always possible for the poor sceners to get some money buy collecting bottles. hey, if it wasn't for empty bottles i'd still be in denmark after scene event 2004 :)
A bit late, but I have to chime in with havoc that the ring thing was exceedingly annoying.
While I understand that you needed to keep the place clean and the hefty fee would ensure people coming back for their deposit. Grim reality was a fist full of tokens I was unable to redeem because I was silly enough to buy rounds for people, and bottles tended to not return on a few occassions (I'm lookin' at you, matti ;)). This is acceptable with a normal deposit, 2 euros a piece tends to get quite steep after a day or so.
Since it is against my peference to steal other people's bottles from their tables, you left me with some pretty unfortunately expensive tokens I have no use for.
That was pretty lame, and I hope you guys would consider a less expensive or less draconian method to get your bottles back at TUM2006.

Ok, we'll consider lowering the deposit next time: 1 Euro per bottle should be enough. The thing is that we had to pay deposit ourselves and we feared to get problems because of it.
The ring-thingie should be obsolete, hence we'd only accept the bottles from brands of drinks we sell. To make this "we orgas don't want to have too much garbage left"-and-"we visitors want to collect bottles to earn money making us buy more drinks"-thing work we can even consider giving back a small ammount of money for collected bottles NOT from a brand we sell.
