Everyone's hugging, eeeew.
I think I'll go read the thread where Legalize says Gargaj doesn't know what he's talking about again.

GamePark cares about this scene. About the homedevelopment. About the demoscene. About the people who spend their time on a machine to realise what they want to create.
ok so ehh their target audience consists of max 10000 people worldwide?
bankruptcy anyone?
(not trying to break anything - i like the idea and i guess i could even buy one)
skrebbel: the other day I was writing some code:

}
En toen had ik dj paul in de else tak :)

skrebbel: Game Park has always been a pretty weird company.
As far as some people in the (ahem) family would explain, Game Park was backed by a bloc of korean elecontrics firms with the initial goal of making a 100% korean handheld, cutting prices on parts for Gamepark. I have no idea if they were bullshitting me, some people can really exaggerate things.

well the thing is that korean technology companies are subsidized by the govt. In exchange they're kinda forced to work together. That's why the gp32 has a samsung chip, and the gp2x has a magiceyes (also korean based) chip (mmsp2).
yeah, that pretty much might be the gist of what they were trying to say :)
Play-Asia has it listed now as well: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-14-71-d1.html
So it looks like you can't buy the GP32 anymore and can "preorder" the GPX2? I'm interested in some mobile development, but was thinking instead of picking up a cheap used GBA and using the GBA devkit.
Does anyone have any comparison opinions on GBA vs. GP32/GPX2? I'm assuming GPX2 will be "fancier", but also cost more (US$180) than a used GBA (~$40?). How about a comparision of the dev environments?

gba sp owns.
gpx2 owns too and is faster better stronger.
decisions decisions.
i choose to save money since i dont even have time to dev for them anyways.

legalize:
Same old thing: Nintendo and GBA fans say that the GBA is the best desicion, GPxx fans say that the GP32/2X is better because it's "native" for development and scenish software.
Your decision. I personally would go for GP2X because of the company's ethnic.

as told before 200 mips for the GP
for the gba it is known that the ARM7 can go up to 130 mips, but I am afraid being clocked so low (16.8Mhz) it wont output too much power.
more accurate data would be: ARM7TDMI 14 MIPS, 36mW at 20MHz
and well yeah before you ask... the gp is faster than the DS

This typo is too rich to let pass!
You mean we should buy the GP2X because they are koreans?
By the way, if you really meant company ethic, isn't that some oxymoron?

just because you never considered any to be competitive doesnt mean they dont exist nicolas.
looks like a cool machine! i'd really like to try coding on one someday. just a shame we can only get them thru import, or?
Another boring 2D machine for low quality homebrew pong clones.

Well, they do make the best demos ;)
I do not understand what you meant by competitive, filipe.
oh come on EvilOne, those future homebrew prods can't be that bad.. they can't possibly be worse than the commercial titles on the GBA!
(GBA demos r00ls btw)

By "boring 2D machine" you mean this, right? :)
give me a kenta cho 2d shmup any day against generic 3d fps(es)
They ASKED for it.
Several of shmups are already out on the GP32:
