i've been watching this thread for some time now, wondering if i should say some words or not, and i think it's time.. (..and these are my personal opinions, not the opinions of a tg organizer):
- to all people dissing tg: shut up and accept that there are different people out there. tg has a demoscene community, and a damn cool one too. just because we don't have every drunk and drugged scener from all around europe doesn't mean we don't have fun with our scene-friends AND good releases. we do.
- to people thinking tg did not care about this incident: we did. our chief of security had a good long talk with the guy who made the video, and if you've seen our chief of security you know he's not to be trifled with.
- to the people thinking tg is a lan: it is not - it IS a computerparty, and if you actually WENT to tg instead of just throwing shitty comments around (based on when your booze was confiscated back in '99) - go to tg again. no, it's not mekka-symposium/breakpoint with beer and stuff, but it is actually fun. trust me. i wouldn't spend my own money, sweat and blood on the party for over six months every goddamn year if it wasn't goddamn worth it.
- to the girl writing the original blog-entry: sure, the video was stupid, childish and immature, but so was your blog-entry. if you want to complain, do it the proper way; to the organizers. don't bitch about it on some personal webpage, that's just as childish and immature as those kids.
- to the people who made the tape: grow up and stop polluting the internet with shit. go to filmschool, learn how to edit properly, write a short movie and be creative instead of idiotic.

You have to accept the fact that 99% of your visitors think that TG is a LAN party. Also all media coverage I've seen regarding TG up until now did not mention the demoscene at all. It's all about TG being a LAN (or computer party if your prefer, but I don't really see a difference here).
Your "we don't have every drunk and drugged scener from all around europe" comment, obviously directed towards breakpoint, sounds a bit negative to me.
The reality is: Breakpoint is much smaller than TG. Also BP is 100% scene only, with most people knowing each other. They know if they screw up, people will remember. There is no real anonymity in a family, you know. This together makes it possible to give much more freedom to the visitors - we are able to trust our visitors a lot more than you are. The past has proven that alcohol etc has not caused real problems at BP.
That's btw one of the reasons I always hated the "look, our party got bigger again"-attitude a lot of party organizers have - the bigger your party gets, the less freedom you are able to give to your visitors.

even at the possibility of sounding repetitive: we do not approve those kids, their manners, or anything... it just doesn't have anything to do with the demoscene (other than it was at TG), and should not be mixed upon with it.
Maybe out of spelling/gramer/whatever errors, but you did mix those things up in your blog post, and that might damage the demoscene as it gets spread...
Not that we feel happy about what happened to you (I don't think anyone in here approves that... well, maybe lator :) ), and yes, there are inmmature and childish people in the demoscene aswell (I might point a few, but I won't), but for the most part of it, we're pretty much respectful with other people... isolated incidents at demoparties (they've happened to me, and to many other people) doesn't by far mean that's all you'll find.

I repost elmindreda's post because it deserves to be read again. Except ofcourse I that doubt a scener did make this video, so it shouldn't scare anyone away from the scene. If a norwegian scener made this video, we shall condition this person to such a degree that psychiatry would make a science out of it.

..and scamp: i'm sorry if i came out a bit harsh towards breakpoint in that sentence - don't misunderstand me, i'd love to go, if i could.. i only ment that some people seem to focus on only the boozing part of it, while i know that smaller parties (though breakpoint is hardly "small") gives more sceners bang for the buck than large ones.. and; there was plenty of press coverage for the creative parts of tg this year (dagbladet - norways second largest newspaper, even printed the compo-winner list :) but i know what you mean. as soon as international press covers it, all they seem to care about is the size and the game-compos. we try to change this, trust me, but anyone ever dealing with press-people should know; they are assholes.
