I was sorry to read Cutter's comments a little earlier on in this thread. I wonder if any kind of limitations on sound systems brought to the party could be enforced ? I know I was one of those with a Logitech speaker system plugged into my kit at Revision 2015. This, however was no match for the setup that the Evoke organizing guys brought in - the speaker stack looked more like something dedicated to outdoor rather than indoor use, plus sometimes the sound was quite distorted too. One thing I noticed at Revision 2014 was that people had their own sound systems, either Logitech or something similar, but they didn't drown out the volume over as wide an area.

Starchaser: you've got a reply (and yes, I didn't check that mail for a while, so good that you poked us here :) )

Puryx, thanks! Yeah, I almost necroposted last year's thread. Quite a dirty job. :)
Visiting demoparties since '97: drunk people or loud music have always been part of those events. Haters gonna hate.

Amstel or Heineken? No thanks, I prefer beer.
Recently pretty well sorted with IPA and other nice belgian stuff, thanks to Santa :D
And you can find Kölsch here and there...

sure, I envision sound engineers running around every half hour measuring the output of each speaker placed around the tables. fuck no.

Yeah, but if you just let people bring in massive outdoor PA systems of their own, then they'll end up getting up to all sorts of disruptive behaviour, like this asshole here.

I think we could, without invoking some bureaucratic terror-regime, enforce the "this person is clearly being a dick to everyone because he is trying to troll"-rule and thus organizers could walk up to Dwarf playing Venga Boys at max volume while screaming along poorly at 5:30 am and just stop that one guy :)

We have done that once at TRSAC and while it was not Dwarf (we would never stop Venga Boys anyway), it worked a charm just saying "yo, you are being a dick and its 5 am, please stop being a dick or at least wait with being a dick for about five hours or".

I place my trust in the self-healing elements of the demoscene any time.
People who annoy people will be annoyed so fast the'll stop before they even started. Most of the time you don't even need any organisers to fix annoying/trolling people. It is like karma but faster.
