Ok, So I watched "Elysium". Now I have to say I am a big fan of District 9 and was hoping for something ... well better.

Considering that that director is South African and that he always seems to choose the underdog, maybe next time we could have a protagonist that isn't Caucasian. I think that could have lent the story a bit more weight in this case.

Maybe I'm just a racist.

ringofyre: It didn't help that Sharlto Copley's performance looked like it belonged in Pantomime Theater 1927.

Gotta be honest - I hadn't recognised him. He played Wikus better.
On a tangent - anyone seen Mandela? I read "Long Walk to Freedom" years ago and I really liked the Luther TV series.

As today almost only crap is produced, let's go some years back...

"Le salaire de la peur" by Henri-Georges Clouzot (1953)

"In a decrepit South American village, men are hired to transport an urgent nitroglycerine shipment without the equipment that would make it safe." (IMDb)

I doubt it would have made much difference. The main problem I had with it was suspending my disbelief. For starters, they didn't do much research on the effects of gamma radiation exposure...

Let alone how a un-enclosed torus with an atmosphere would behave in space. Then there's how we move in microgravity (Ender's Game showed us how imo) and don't get me started on the 'magical' healing bays that seemed to be a panacea for all ills. I was wondering if they had a "Reiki" setting....

DCI Banks.

2 English crime shows. Yet both absolute crackers for acting from mains and supporting, makes me happy I used to watch The Bill.

I'm looking for a name of movie with Michael Dudikoff (American Ninja). I think it was one of American Ninjas film but it's not lister under Michael Dudikoff filmography.

The setting was swamps. There were some group of guys hunting people with strange looking knives & swords. I think it was released soon after American Ninja 2.

anyone remember that flick?

Only Lovers Left Alive was pretty good indeed. Not sure if I'd say it's absolutely essential, but if you want to see a film frm this year, that's a good candidate :)

@noby at first I thought that it lacked integrity a little bit maybe, too much distraction at times, but it really grows on me, btw - soundtrack
