Open source Nebula Engine ruins the scene

That there's still no epic Hollywood bio-pic about this man is astonishing.
Maybe because of his trench warfare with Edison, because Edison is something of a national treasure in the US :)

I fucking love moredhel topics!
Yes,
-werkzeugg, its free
-demopaja, this one too
-nebula, hey this is not demoscene based, so crap
No, im not a coder but i can understand if your engine cant compete against freeware nebula engine. The Nebula can do faster any shadow routines faster than yours.
Even Chaos^FR said after "Debris": "I could make the shadow routine faster."
So, well, nothing.

Choas^FR also once said: "Demo or Die!"
Choas also said AND DON'T FORGET TO COME TO INERCIA DEMOPARTY 2005. And did you come? Of course not. So STFU you lame troll!
...or was it rgy?
is there a sudden increase of trolls or is it just me who doesn't visit pouet too frequent these days ? could be the weather.
No, moredhel is not a recent addition to Pouet, but he might be growing (small wonder when you keep feeding him).

Yeah? How come demos/intros made by smash^flt requires 5ghz? Even Pantaoons engine is faster oh and better.
Learn to kode, smash, oh can you make your code faster than your friend, pantaloon? Your intro was nice, well packed etc. But it needs 5ghz and was not ATI compatible. Great. Fix after fix?

5GHz!? Wake me when you are through...
Fuck the Nebula engine. You know who's *really* killing the scene?
Eric Clapton.
His music has never been used in a demo, but if it was, it would probably be 23% more awesome than an ASD soundtrack. Therefore, in order to save the scene from this threat, the following people must record a follow-up to "Layla":
- Leviathan
- Romeo Knight
- the dancing people from "Song, people dancing"

dude: smash and pantaloon share the same engine.
So, this guy is basically the finnish magic, but with an engine fetish instead of fr/asd cheerleading.
watch the video.
5ghz? i didnt know it was all software rendered.. now it all makes sense!
*assface*
Games like Tetris, Patapon or Lemmings did not become popular because of their powerful engine. The most important is the originality. Of course, some have great ideas and a good engine (Portal, etc.), but the most important is the idea. Back in the 90's people loved Melon Dezign's demos on Amiga and I don't think the code's performance was the main reason why. Take a look at recent art history: the technique is no more the main quality of an art piece. People don't care if it's complicated to achieve, they just like the idea, the approach of the artist. So don’t think that a powerful engine can kill the demoscene.
Now, tools are important for sure because they allow directors to unleash their creativity: People out of the demoscene achieve great screens using flash for example. They use simple but beautiful effects, and they can do that because the tool is easy to use and powerful.
Still, I believe tons of great and simple ideas are to be found, and they will not require amazing 3D engines or tools. Hiding behind the technology is a good way to hide a lack of new ideas, in the old time, some demos were just about displaying the same sphere or glenz vectors as the others, but with more vertices. The scene has shown it was more than competing engines, and it will continue.

so, if someone made a demo with this engine, and someone asked: "hey how did you do those shadows?" and the answer would be something like: "well i just pressed a button in the tool and the shadows just came there all by itself!", would that be much fun? NO!! Real coders make their own math-libraries, use their own matrices and transformations! so FU!!
..and real democoders also make their own tools. if you want to use someone elses tool then be my guest, but you are not capable of understand how the f*** it works internally!
Actually, real democoders etch their own transistors. Anyone who doesn't find that fun can piss off out of the scene, because I'm the supreme dictator of what's fun and what isn't.
She's mental :S
WTF!!!
I would like to see some values from it's behavior. WTF! And the weird part is that it ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE A TRANSISTOR. WTF!

@rydi
Fuck the internally if the demo needs 5ghz. I can run, for example many of the ASD demos without any stuttering 800mhz athlon+loysy ati card. Thats democoding.
Nowadays it seems that "basic" effects needs at least 3 ghz to run properly.
Fuck, Debris runs just fine with older hardware, and because why? The code is fucking fast, internally.
