Demoscene Articles around da World.

uhm, i'd rather have no publicity than bad publicity. I think that party-organizers should write some public-announcements rather than having journalists snooping around doing BSA-like reports.
Antitec had some issues of a French Amstrad CPC mag where Logon System member were writting there. Fanzines, demoreviews, asm code and stuff, wow! I don't remember if it is Amstrad 100% you mentioned..
In Greece, Rex of BENG! and Dirty Minds was writting a CPC monthly section called "8bits never die" for USER magazine around 1992, reviewing demos like The Demo by Logon System or Face Hugger Megademo, e.t.c. I had them, but I am wondering how I didn't learned about the demoscene through that (Ok,. I couldn't get them, there was no inet, but I was wondering how they would look like when I had reread the section after many years..)

yep, something like that. we asked several journalists about covering our party, but made sure that they contact us in advance to know what a demoparty is and what it (most important) not is. so we had two good articles, whereas one was mainly from ourselves.
both wrote that gamers were not welcome, so the most important thing has been stated out ;)))

Well, of course you have to think twice if you think about who you gonna ask to make a fancy and first of all a _fitting_ and true journalistic report...without that sensational aspects that tv most shows...like:
"Here you can see our future youth sitting in a dark hall 3 days and nights without sleep - shooting eachother one million times in a virtual blood bath...and it's just a question of time when every single one of them will stand up, go out and will try that in real life as well!"
Pahh! I hate such stupid and completely senseless reports which mix up things just like they wanna have it as it sounds 'much more intersting or better 'frightning' and terrorising'...
How lame can they go...
That's why I/we wanna change that for SURE in future! My goal is to make useful and surely not minor interesting reports about several scene things to open the publics' eyes...

...watch out and you'll see! ;-) Time's gotta change finally!!

weasel: sad fact about most of today's journalists they just want to make their mag sell more. they will do whatever they can to twist the story into a more "interesting" point of view article. the one that will get more ppl to read it.
like when you bother explaining them what demoscene is and they just use the "shocking" comments you say between the important facts.
journalism, like any other self praising competing work force from this sick world, is corrupted by money-eagerness and big career ideals.
they dont respect politicians and athletes you cant expect them to respect underground computer nerd groups like demoscene. they just wont. majority atleast.
its a sad world. oh well...
whatever the people will buy the people will deliver.

ps: Well, it's very sad...but you are mostly right... This is surely a sad current situation...
But what can I say...especially this encouraged me as welll to start C.A.P. TV ...
And I really hope that it will work out. Of course this can only work with enough support from _the (whole) scene_! But I'm certain that this won't be the problem... ;-)

ps: Majority is not everybody, I don't even know if it's the majority. I work as a journalist and I would never knowingly write something that is not true or out of context or would give a wrong impression. I aim to write good articles and not crap (not that my articles aren't crap but at least I try to get the facts straight).
Good points. As a lawyer, professional consultant and an editor of several well known magazines I would never ever accidentally mislead people. You cannot stress enough the importance of being honest. Always remember that by writing nonsense, no matter how well thought out it may be, you're in fact trading your dignity by giving a self-centered impression of yourself.
good. keep it like that.
i only wish all others would do the same.

Yes, it was Amstrad Cent Pur Cent, the one I have in home here...
The first time i saw demos, it was on the french MicroKid tv show.
Thanks to them, i'm now a part of it. :)

Some years ago, i was interviewed in the french mag ST-Mag, which also had a regular scene section (which was very interesting in the biggest period of the st scene).
Well, this post is just here to bring back the more useful topics into the 'last 5' list on the pouet.net main page!!
(instead of some 'girls life' sensless post...)

<C'mon guys...this is pretty childish meanwhile...>
internet, money and publicity (hehe) killed scene. damn rockstar-wannabes.
melw: I have that Orange-documentary somewhere, but it's low quality (the tape + the documentary itself)
Dune/Orange was really sweating like a pig=)
The makers of the documentary showed around 2-3 demos (or clips of them), and they had recorded them by shooting the monitor with their betacam! You can imagine how it looked like. Reflection on the screen, colors all fucked up etc. Lame indeed.

April fool was over. I found a old book in my house which have article about demoscene.
It is "BASIC Magazine" published in 1st May, 1999.
The article was written by 中道 潤 and title is "未来のプログラマーは要チェック 華麗なる世界 PC demo scene" which means like "Future programmer should check it, beautiful world PC demo scene".
There are picture of following demos in the article:
Transgression 2 (MFX)
Opticron (Craw Productions)
Unreal (Future Crew)
Second Reality (Future Crew)
DOPE (Complex)
Astral Blur (The Black Lotus)
This article says you can get many PC demo in Hornet Archive, and there is no link to pouet.net.
I heard that C-Magazine had article about how to make a demo, but I don't have that book.

Wait for a week or so and there should be plenty of new demo articles out :)
Pouet didn't existed before 2000.
There is a kind of short report from Forever|9 (2008) by artycok.tv which is some internet platform for digital art (based at Academy of Fine Arts, Prague). Although not mainstream, we got serious interest from modern artists (artistic stuff on 8bits, demos by Skrju and others).
http://artycok.tv/lang/en-us/275/forever-9
Mainstream televisions were never interested and we are quite happy for that, knowing how rubbish the media in Slovakia are.

Polish Secret Service used to have 1-2 pages dedicated to demoscene every month in the mid 90's .
There was also a little article about demoscene in The Rolling Stone Magazine and interview with Trent Reznor (NIN) who was involved with demoscene in late 80's. He studied computer engineering at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania.

Most of it is in German only, tho! :/
I am still missing sth i only saw when it was broadcasted...Members of Farbrausch @ GIGA.tv. Couldn´t find that in the internet so far and only hardly remember having seen it back in 2001 or so.
