What should demoscene.org website be ?

what rez said.
a hamster singing the amiga song!
OK, now let me help you halt this idiot train right now.
We've got Pouet, we've got Scenesat, we've got Github et cetera which are PERFECTLY FINE to host whatever project since that's theirl whole point (I don't see a separate Github for the fine folks interested in making Word Processors now do I?), we've got Demozoo, we've got scene.org.
So what in gods name is there to add that won't be redundant as fuck? Here's the only way to go about it:
- Set up a simple nice 1-pager linking to aforementioned sites, the Wikipedia article on the demoscene.
Voila, done. Lets not replicate what we already have and end up with a smoldering mess of backlog and haphazardly maintained shit.
End of service message.
Yours truly, saviour, handsome man and scholar,
- Niels
you're welcome.

but, the new revamped scene.org should become that landing page instead! ;)
And that would be fine too.
What made those old Red Sector idiots start claiming a domain like that instead of just sticking to the regular routine of reviewing single malts and complaining about a sore prostate?

former next empire idiots, you mean. and by that, i think i explained your question :)
als ik nog 1 iemand hoor beginnen over een "effect database" dan duw ik persoonlijk een schep heten kolen in z'n waffel
good point. what about a wiki with an effect database?
We have so much interesting and not interesting demoszene sites... why another one?
Most people spread the shit over facebook... websites starts to die out.
Don't waste your time in another one.

Nice troll baits, dumb and dumberer, but please try to stay polite if you have no clues ;)
Not the most original and complex idea, but I miss a site like http://web.archive.org/web/20050514085407/http://demoo.calodox.org/ ...where good demos ...
And btw, superplek is redundant as fuck too.

Yeah right. *rolls eyes*
Plek's tone might not be to everyone's taste, but the idea to have some basic info page with all the essentials (+ some relevant papers and books that appeared in recent times) is not so bad. Then again, I think demoscene.info was supposed to be just that. :)

Yeah. Next time you see an opportunity to do something that benefits the demoscene, for god's sake don't just get off your arse and fucking do it. Make sure you get it signed off by the demoscene management committee first.
neoman: curio. Or for the more social media minded, Demos We Care About.
bring back the Two headed squirrel!
Kylearan... Means, you are'nt on facebook or what? :)

It's in the works.

The keyword here is "benefits". I have major doubts about the supposed benefits of something that is supposedly handled by someone who have been embroiled in controversy in the very thing they're supposed to be providing benefits to.

Yeah. Next time you see an opportunity for redundancy, get off your arse, put on those training wheels and fucking do it.
Anyway, if it really does end up as a compact portal it's not bad, albeit still redundant. And adding papers? You all do realize that there are thousands of papers on relevant subjects? But sure, go ahead and add a few select ones.
Sigh...

+1
@Gargaj :
Put aside the fact you do not particularly strike me as someone afraid of controversy yourself, you have obviously overlooked the thread's initial post mentioning we will not administer it (does Mandarine administer pouet.net ? No) :
Aside from negativity and sarcasm, do you have any idea to submit to the thread besides something having to do with outreach ? Or better yet, do you want to participate in it yourself ?
---------------------------------------------------
For now most people seem to want some form of demoscene wikipedia, which is not something we favoured initially but if that trend continues, tha's what it will become.

Of course, you might have other and/or better ideas, so feel free to share your ideas of what you'd like it to be, without forgetting (important) to mention if you would be willing to administer or pitch in to it yourself. Thank you for your attention !

@Kabuto : yes we agree it should be managed by someone neutral.

Just make it a portal website which links to all kind of demoscene related websites + social media profiles/pages in teh internets.
I tried something like this a little bit with my sofascener page:

I'll simply disregard the massive amounts of logical fallacies going on here and jump straight to the stupidest part of your statement: you honestly view Gargaj's reaction to Analogue showing up out of nowhere and open sourcing Pouet as a point of controversy on his part? That's some impressive reality distortion going on right there.

Actually, what most people seem to want is actually nothing at all, because they're content with what already exists and confused by what value at all (if any) this new site would bring.
I find it interesting that your modus operandi is to ask for advice, get advice you don't want and ignore it, and then retool whatever minuscule initial idea you had to begin with into a sort of bullet point list of lowest-common denominator ideas from the people you don't disagree with. This smells like quality to me.
