category: offtopic [glöplog]
When you start believing crap like this, it's time to ask yourself seriously if it's time to check into a clinic.
I choose to belive that french tellie is crap and im proud of it!
Bottom line is that conspiracy is a great group, let's all go home now and call it a day.

Can we please focus our creative energies onto the Random Image Thread (reloaded).. I need more fun in my life.
Sarko! (You know, Carla Bruni's husband)
krabob & dubmood: here is the archive of the dutch commercial tv station rtl on the icesave/iceland debacle. what, that's not right wing enough for you? then here is a ton of hits on nrc handelsblad's site, which, as worldly characters like yourselves probably already knew, is holland's quality right wing newspaper. what? still not enough? ok, here's a collection of links on the site of "de telegraaf", the closest thing to a tabloid holland's got, and a former nazi collaborating newspaper to boot. all of them have reported in great detail on icesave/landsbanki, the demonstrations, the government change, et al...
Good censorship needs skill :-)
rowley: I was still reflecting over the newsfeed in france, not in holland.
Actually, Rowley is not the most sensitive commentator on pouet. :-)
dubmood, sure, that explains why you mentioned two swedish and one british outlet!
Iceland has what? 300 000 people? It's hardly a global superpower or anything.
in france, when you say Iceland, there's a bip on the tv.
rowley: yep makes sence, since no french medias wrote about it and I live in france and I speak sweidsh and english.
my point in this discussion was that french media didnt talk about it because they never talk about anything of importance.

The Icelandish crisis is probably a scheme to make them join the EU. No one makes revolutions these days. People are too comfortable, even when there's a crisis.
I took the time to make the point of "the holland side", using a translator. interesting !
Keep in mind we are searching for informations about:
- eventual riots, clamed imaginary by some people.
- eventual presidents destitued, maybe imaginary.
- eventual private banks nationalized , maybe imaginary.
- eventual complete rewritte of the iceland constitution aiming anti-capitalist laws !
So what do we have there ?
article linked are not sorted by date. :(
1. 6 Mars 2010 Fat 3 pages long article (One of the first linked)
What we more or less read:
- there is an iceland bank's bankrupcy since 2008.
- iceland must pay its Billions debt to germany and netherlands, they call that "icesave". (first time I hear about it, hey; no surprise: that's a reason to hear news from iceland in netherlands !)
- notation agency 's iceland notes suck right-winged bla bla.
- compromised addhesion to europe right-winged bla bla.
- investing in iceland sucks right-winged bla bla.
- iceland banks "protect terrorism" nazi-winged bla bla (What... the fuck)
- the president name at that date is "Grimsson"
- bank were nationalized: 3 lines at the end of a 3 page article !!!! BINGO !!!
- one line about manifestations, but no talk about political change caused by anything.
I try to find a more fresh article:
2. 9 december 2010 - short article
- Talks about who will pay the debt, the iceland government will have to choose stuffs.
- nothing more about politics.
... but a nice photo with this comment:
Protests in january 2010 in the house of the president about the repayment of the billions dollards for holland and germany, photo reuters
oh, it look likes the people taking over presidency !!! But nothing is explained.
Well, I've read 3 other articles on nrc, all olders, all only talking about uninteresting "icesave" bullshits. I would add the articles are very poor in all way; like the 5 or 6 french equivalent I know (figaro, le monde,...). Informations are just hierarchised so money-minded people know just what they have to know.
... then I searched some fresh english news about "iceland presidency", I found again some lines in a right-winged economic newspaper:
Wall street journal, 17 january
(notice: no news about bank nationalisation in this article.)
So, what happened from what I understand: :)
the president was not destitued. But ! The president has a veto he can use to just not pay the debt. He was about to pay, but some left-winged people "with black flags" just came and forced him to ask a referendum about this. Then the iceland people voted no payment at 90% !
- enough search for today, I may look again about that constitution thingy.
CHOCOLATE PACIFIST REVOLUTION !!! :)
You too, visit your president or prime minister to speak about revolution in theory, globalization, and the nature of capitalism. He may even pay you the chocolate.

So first, let's guess: did the left-winged holland newsapers have less quality ? Did the left-winged spoke about iceland more or less ? :) Did the left-winged press exist ? Wild guess, in france it doesn't exist anymore.here is a ton of hits on nrc handelsblad's site, which, as worldly characters like yourselves probably already knew, is holland's quality right wing newspaper

krabob: i chose to illustrate the right wing/commercial point-of-view just to show that even in those circles this topic was reported openly and without any noticeable censorship. ofcourse there's also leftwing press in holland, and ofcourse they also reported on all these issues openly and from their own contexts.
also, i guess you are using a really, really shitty translator- it yields funny results by repeatedly confusing rather basic concepts (for example "germany" and "united kingdom"). such grotesque misinterpretations make it close to impossible to respond in a serious manner to any of the claims you're making, so i will not attempt to do so.

iceland is so revolutionary. demanding extreme socialism/anti-capitalism when most of the world's main governments are currently trying desperately to introduce it in their own countries. there is no left/right wing, there is just policies fit for particular periods in time designed to mould society in particular ways.
you think "capitalism" is a sacred cow to your rulers that they fear to let go of? someone once called you people "useful idiots" - can't quite remember who it was - but i'm sure he was revolutionary.

Gotta love it - half of the world is going on about some crappy speech @ some crappy awards show by some crappy English comedian & here on pouet we discuss whether a social revolution happened in Iceland and whether-or-not any of the rest of the world ['s press] noticed. (Let alone the conspiracy theories)!
Don't go changing baby!
Don't go changing baby!
I too find it very interesting what is happening in iceland, the people there (esp. the youth) seems to be pretty fed up with all that neo-capitalism crap. And yes, the news about it are spare, but they exist.
I dont think there will be a real revolution (as in, angry mob storming/killing the goc-people) but more of a slow reformation. I dont think Iceland will turn communist or something, but im curious to see if they find some laws/rules to stop this greedy neo-con madness.
