pouet needs a Dingoo category!
category: general [glöplog]
omg. optimus' blog has huge postings ...
its more or less a cheap Gp2X clone ... so ..
Great! A new demo for Dingoo.
Oh no,. it just doesn't run.
Also, reset button to get into dingux, dingux apps you need to edit dmenu after uploading the dge file, I don't see a way that you directly run them not from the menu. There is a browser but things doesn't run from there. Pain in the ass.

Optimus Knight: Use gmenu2x, much better than dmenu, and it lets you add new programs on the go. :)

Pouet DON'T need a Dingoo category... specially because dingoo is just a random MP7 player (erm... here where I live, chinese products are popular, Dingoo is a MP7 player, among several others, MP3 play music, MP4 plays video, MP5 plays other stuff, and so on...)
Dingoo, is a random chinese MP7 player that is sold as gamemachine to compete with GP2X. This mean: The "manufacturer" actually IS NOT the manufacturer, they cannot "support" it. This also explains why the crap "dingux" thing needed to be made by fans of the machine.
Of course, GP2X has its problems too (like, they are taking FOREVER to release the promised Wi-Fi thing, make the TV out cable, etc...) but its OS is consistent, work fine, and you can make demos for it safely, without having to make the player use bizarre stuff.

speeder: Come on, hacking strange gadgets to run demos cannot be condemned. And if odd devices with maybe one demo have a category, where would you draw the line then?
Exactly what I am saying...
I mean, if you want to make a Dingoo demo, go for it... But don't ask for a category, it is non-sense...
A GP2X category would make a bit more sense, but it still does not has enough demos anyway...
Now if suddenly it get a explosion in demo amount, then it would make sense to have a category for it.
For now, it can be stuffed into the category of "strange devices" (we have that?)

GP32 and GP2X actually HAVE their own categories.
..and you can find >40 prods there.
look first before posting.
Slight misinformation! Sorry!
* flees *
* don't looked where is the door, and slams into it too. *
Ok... Better look around first...

but i agree that an own category for a platform should only be added if there are atleast 5 demos, to say a random number <=10
Well, 4 so far ^^
I´m unfornately not clever enough to code my own demos and even my pixilang tries are rather shitty. And i asked for a Dingoo category to gain some demo coder´s interest, so far it worked quite good.
@ Optimus Knight: Any chance of releasing the plasma thingy? :)

I was looking at that and then I thought. My phone was little more than that and it's way more powerful. Then I went back to pc coding.
Talking about Brazilians... is there any openly available SDK for that strange console of yours?

Yeah, but gaming on a phone sucks a bit, and most are pretty closed i think.
You mean a Dingoo SDK? Sure. :D

This is the Demoscene, not the lamerscene. People tend to forget that, including myself.
The plasma thingy was just a test.
Maybe I will port my gamepark demos oneday.
At least if I can find a mod player in native SDK. I am not sure I want to go Dingux.

Although the original SDK uses some pixel object format that makes things very slow. I am wondering if I could overcome this. If not, I will go for Dingux. I have just seen in the SDK link there are some nice toolchains that maybe also run in windows.
He asked the Brazillian console SDK...
That is Zeebo.
Yes, it has a freely available SDK...
But that SDK uses a version of Qualcomm Brew that is not free. ¬¬
Also Zeebo is more expensive (and way weaker) than a PS2.

Yet way more powerful than an Amiga, or C64. More than €100 is too much for a console.
Anyway, in related news it seems Pandora is finally out! A zillion years later, but it's out.
Timeless by Tran ported. :D
look here

And another demo got ported, happy days in Dingooland!
Jenny Thinks by Bandwagon + Fit, ported by Zeitpunk.

Oh, the link i forgot
Anything original? Everyone can port that if there's an SDL version for it.
Try porting The Surge by mfx and I'll mail you a cookie.

what is so fasinating about a miniature SDL app player? you already have a Linux subsection, thats all the Dingo needs.
No original demo yet. :´( TinySDGL (OpenGL software renderer) was recently ported, so we might see some cool things soon.
@button: The Dingoo´s "normal" OS is µCOS2, not Linux, all so far ported demos were for Linux though. I guess i´m fascinated by the Dingoo because it delivers and delivers, much more than i expected when i got one. Plus the community, it´s the best!
And no, the Linux category is not enough, how should i find Dingoodemos if they are buried between hundreds of x86 demos?
btw: There´s [url=http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingux-releases/(release)-oldplay-v1-10-for-dingux/OldPlay[/url], a cool chiptune player.
