Personnal note : LSD is a mutagene.
I'm on alcool only, but as a fan of the 60's psychedelic movement, I've read a lot on LSD. And what I know is that one little dose of LSD took one time, gives perception troubles for 6 month or one year, then things seem to come back, but 10 years or 20 years after, you can have sudden feedbacks, some quick uncontrollable violent crisis, episodically, for ever.(cf a scanner darkly)
people have uncontrollable violent crisis even without any LSD..
these crisis can lead to things like: tearring down your own nose with a chain saw, killing your workmates with an axes, etc...
from 1965 to 1969 in california, LSD was not only legal, but considered as a medication to try once... A lots of people took LSD then, and let's say arounds 1971-1977 there was a huge amount of former LSD users that suicided. These was a true health crisis at the scale of the country.
Also, the drummer of soft machine, Robert Wyatt, jumped out from the 3rd floor in 1973, and is paraplegic since then...
