Pouët.net's main purpose is to function as a database for all scene productions. (A sort of front-end for scene.org.) Screenshots, readme files, download links, group homepages, party info, etc.. It does that quite well. (Although maybe larger screenshots and/or three images per production would be nice: I no longer surf at 800x600.)

The comments for each production are a nice secondary feature and can be full of interesting discussions, such as insight from the creators, updates, links to similar productions, etc.. Sure there's some noise, but hey, that's the internet.

This BBS is a tertiary feature -- a sideshow in more ways that one. But who cares what is posted here? It's for entertainment only. Pouët.net's raison d'être ain't to be the official demoscene BBS.

To me it seems the best place to discuss demos is at a demoparty, not on the 'net.

But there's a lot of good stuff on this site. For example, I love seeing the "latest added comments." Why? Because invariably there's a comment for some obscure production I've never heard of before. It's nice to discover some long-lost gem that would probably never be found by randomly searching scene.org.

At any rate, I must sound like a broken record by now because I've said all this before. So, without any further ado...

Tomaes: it could work if the moderators ( how many are they btw ? ) can move the threads to the appropriate bbs.

it would be worth it - just to get a fair average of eloquency back in the threads again.

i can't be bothered by the BBS unless it breaks the mainpage layout. which it can't do iirc.

wolfvoz: you know, the word "forum" might indicate something other than a webforum.

..and i'm with wade on this one - optimus - take a hint.

thom: much of what you said up there made sense, the problem is that it's not what people write on the bbs that's causing the miscontent, it's what they write in the comment-fields.

What i see is, that people who got a life (or better to say a girl - for our queens: a boy is also okay, haha) besides scene just take the things (either on this bbs here, as well as at parties) not too seriously.
Besides that, scene is more than pouet or just this bbs here itself.
All i can suggest again and again is: Go to a party it is at least much more closer to real life than lurking around in here. And then don't dare to sit down only and leech pr0n, but walk around and get the experience with all the other sceners.

Pahahaha, depends on, interchangeable also with: barbecue, more than small talk, get to know other machines, playing dicks, sleeping in the car without complaining it is cold, noticing that people are completely different to that impression you got of them in here, ... Stuff for a new thread? haha

Wade:Probably it makes sense to visit a forum which provides a moderator. Pouet offers too much freedom if not anarchy if you ask me.

You could try it with http://totalkaos.de instead of Pouet, it's not bad, many oldskoolers are hanging around there. There are special places for serious discussions and space for jokes and such.
