Actually Revision sounds a lot like Eurovision, so there ;)
To be fair, in modern Europe countries shouldn't matter. Borders were always and should be administrational only.
There is however a rise in awereness of so called ethnic groups in Europe, more out of nostalgia I guess. Is it bad or good? Idk maybe it's fun to investigate your cultural roots, but it definitely doesn't make any good to get fanatic about it or think one is better than the other.
People are mixed more than many conservative people would think and there is no such thing as truly High German, Bavarian, Gael, Scotish, Sami, Karelian, Tatar or whatever name you put on your supposed to be roots. Unless, of course, you have long tradition of incest in your family ;)

Obsolete or not its not suitable and never was to force one to represent the country that he has in his papers. Let's let people create their own teams, not basing on their country of living or origin but their personal choices...... and don't stick to rules of real sport life. Let's be unique. Our demoscene groups also don't have to and rarely stick to the countries criteria and if they do, they close on some talented people from other countries. f they want its their business. But fuck don't force all to be like that if someone want to have fun / team with guys from other part of the world. And it's nothing about being correct (what is recently somehow trendy) but not limiting each one for unnecessary reasons. Despite of that making random teams is also a bad idea.
Anyway, let's find out what we would compete in? Team games? Beach volleyball? football on the party place? Boxing? Any suggestions?

Screw the nations thing. I really do like Zooms idea though :) (page 1)
How about getting some demoscenes on real Olympics? :P Actually, I enjoy the recent digital visual effects in them these days like in Beijing's 2008.

I heard demoscene like competition so I put competition in your competition so you can compete more!
Umh... I mean, doesn't demoparties already have competitions? And how would we even decide who wins in this kind of country competition thing? People from country x will probably vote for that country and then what? We just end up measuring how many sceners from each country voted. I think there are better ways to get statistical information about geographic distribution of sceners (like asking where they are from / where they live).
But sure mixing up people to find out new ways of working and forming new collaborations is always interesting. However, I don't think that Olympics is the theme to go with. Maybe some hackathon like event would work better for that purpose.

For country-competition we have DUB quiz. :)
If you think about this idea for long enough you can imagine "Demoscene v2.0"...
The idea i am talking of is the one of mixing teams randomly and let them compete in some special compo. 1 coder, 1 musician, 1 graphician.
This would lead to sceners collaborating on a demo that would never ever had done so without that special compo. Some collaborations might work out completely or maybe just only partly...the result could be better demos than we already have, as sceners would continue working together as they may find out they can work better with scener x andOr y from one of those collabs, than with their group-mate(s) they usually worked with. Maybe even new groups would result from this while some groups would have to die for it...atleast some member-juggling would go on in the groups! :D
In ages of Internet working with someone not residing close to you or visiting you atleast is no problem...and for sure not in the demoscene...where TBL got formed from those sceners that had internet already thanks to studying while all others still had their Modems for calling BBSes and most non-sceners didnt even know internet existed at all.
