HAS ANYONE THOUGHT OF THE STARVING ARTIST AND HIS EVEN MORE STARVING FAMILY?
COPY KILLS MUSIC!
COPY KILLS MUSIC!
i'm not quite sure how digg works, but why isn't http://digg.com/music/Timbaland_ripped_off_a_track_from_my_buddy#c4715677 hitting the top 10?
This slideshow compares the amiga mod,

linde. because Digg is a corporate interest and this is a story about a big commercial music corp exploiting the little indy-guy. probably some controling shareholder of Digg also owns a large stake in Timbaland's revenues and is repressing the story's exposure. :)
klipper: Right, it's a conspiracy!
The fact that it's three days old now and nobody really cares anymore has nothing to do with it. ;)
Btw. it's still in the top10 for entertainment news from the last 7 days.

there's some guy "AlSween" on youtube claiming GRG/Tempests song was on some sample CD : Ueberschall 8 bit stylez
I don't know... the one minute sample makes it sound like they're all original or heavily processed. I'm not gonna buy it... I have a feeling he's just trying to get some sales maybe... but if anyone here's got it (or can *get hold* of it) then it might be worth taking a look.

I found and downloaded a torrent called "Reason Refill - 8-bit stylez". It's about 60 MB. I do not have Reason, so someone else have to look into that one...
I can't find that torrent anywhere... where did you find it?
@chameleon
well if it's worth us all accusing him of premeditated and intentional ripage of work without permission/license, then I'd say it's definitely worth taking a look. :-P call me reasonable and evenhanded if you like...but that's just my opinion

Someone has to. Maybe it's not even lil'Timby's fault! But he had a SID station and that cd as real (wav/pcm) samples!
well just my thoughts. i like nelly furtando version, its quite nice for popish and for 8-bit background, and i have nothing against timberland and sampling, but crediting right persons is teh key!
Hello ppl.
Is there a good summary of the whole story (timbaland/tempest), in order to translate it and put it on french boards/news ?
What about submitting the video on dailymotion.com (I can't see it for now) ?

neon: I'm looking into it now.
wtf .. i think this is too far-fetched: http://sanx.fxteam.net/?p=6
chameleon: I had a quick listen to the 8 bit stylez CD, but couldn't find any familiar tunes there.
britelite: I think I have a different one, mine only contains short hits and lead-sounds. No riffs or melodies.
It says nothing about being from Ueberschall though, so it could be a different one I guess..?

Contain various sampled 8-bit machines. Drum samples, bass and lead sounds.

No, it's the same one. There is a patch called VOX-ATARI1.sxt that contain the samples "Welcome", "to" and "8-bit styles", which is the exact phrase used in the demo-MP3 for the sample-CD (=15&tek=0&folder=2&user_uschall_pi1[sendfile]=8bit_stylez.mp3]link)
Eh, crappy URL contain block-quotes :) Here it is again: link to demo-mp3 of the 8-bit stylez sample-CD
uns3en_: I listened to the two songs now and I can't hear a single thing that's similar.
Classic demo though. :)
YEA STOP ACCUSING TIMBALAND!
HOWEVER; the sample-CD contains _two_ CDs, and I've only listened to the AKAI sample-bank part. The first CD presumably contains construction-kits (meaning one full demo-track and then the different parts of it broken down, for example; lead, drums, bass, addons etc.)
Someone should try to listen to this one to see if Tempest/GRG has been ripped and put on it. I see that Remix64.com has reviewed it, and it is Chris Abbott who did the review. Christ also posted in the Digg-comments, so perhaps someone could try to get in contact with him and ask him to check the sample-CD for "Acidjazzed evening"?

submitted new to boingboing.net .. dunno if cory will publish it? somebody else could do the same so it will get published ;)
gloom: it's the audio-CD I listened to, and no, I didn't find anything familiar
