The basic principle of this community (or creation in general) is make whatever (except illegal things) you want. If you unintentionally do something unethical, someone points it out and then you can adjust your doing. Don't forget to dialogue each other.

Just a bit about “incessant whining”. Well, from my experience, people who use words like “gatekeeper” in excess are doing the most “whining”.
Now to the real point. Using genAI to make demoscene assets or whole productions is lame. I won’t say it’s disrespectful, I won’t say it’s irresponsible, I won’t say it’s antisocial, I won’t say it’s detremental. I’ll stick with lame. And no amount of quasi-liberal posturing, no amount of “freedom fighting”, no amount of posh quasi-liberal lingo can change that.

It was a general thing I realized.
I realized that there is often a pattern that if any form of demoscene creative output is not endorsed enough, its instantly shunned. Meaning, even if you make something not intended to follow trends, or just to do what the fuck you wanted stylistically or whatever wise.
Or if something doesn't better your previous attempts its not worth doing. At all. You might as well leave the community and go do your things elsewhere.
Meaning every single prod has to have purpose and deemed worth in the eyes of the community. I am in no way did my previous prods to win awards or anything, I just wanted to do things I thought to myself were neat to do. I guess now I am massively disillusioned with how things are now in that "4k is the new 64kb", and "this should be done on Amiga". I am all for making things however I want. It just seems to me thats discouraged, and that its relatively easy to make a winner prod if you follow well known tropes and is instantly the best ever made.Leaving me to post elsewhere, but even then social media works on likes, dislikes, etc, reducing art to arbitrary decisions. I found that applies for many other things, there is zero need to do things publically. It just seems to me art itself is more than just binary things like polar emotions, likes/dislikes, votes, etc.
