Kindergarden 2008
category: general [glöplog]
Aside from the "ask folks to be reasonable about the amount of space they're taking in the limited sleeping areas, unless they are an organizer in which case they get to do whatever they want" bit:
More wood. (This is a constant.)
More IIIIVORY. (also a constant.)
Free Double Bastard for everyone. Those who don't like it can donate theirs to Truck.
DuckHunter Concert.
thumbuppage on chillout bit.

Xerxes: you know, I really did NOT sleep in the van just to avoid causing you guys to lose windows, etc. It would have been a serious problem. Not that I hear myself snore, just that I've been told.

The only realistic option is a mobile internet connection, but the bandwidth is too narrow to share amongst 50-60 computers. So the logistic part of this basically rules out internet access for the visitors, at least organized by us.
Would it be possible to have a mobile connection and offer (or even sell) it on request from an organizer computer for a short period of time per person? This would make it possible for accessing svn, contacting lamers not at the party place or checking some timetables for boats/buses or whatever in case of "emergency".
internet would ruin the experience. Keep it as it is :)
what, there was no duckhunter concert? :-( (i presume thats next life). arrange one at kg09 so i take care not to miss it!
about the internet, i've always loved the intermediate "you won't get any, but there's a 5 year old laptop with internet, a usb port and some software for internet/svn/etc installed in the corner over there"-option. also to be used as a public voting terminal in case of an online votesys, for those without (friends with) computers
pommak: we already had that this year :)
@pommak: what Leia said. Guess we could have announced it more clearly. HBC used it to download some codecs and encoding tools on friday.
more clearly? nah, it was 3l33tz 0nly :P
advertise the mobile internet connection better next year. :)
having suprise fast compos that would be unterstandable for non norwegian/swedish speaking people would be nice too! ;)

(comments and captions are still missing - we are working on moving that from the old gallery)

nosfe: the problem was that the surprise compo material in english for friday was brought by the car you were in.. as you arrived around 3 in the morning it was too late to hold that compo then. the next day was pretty much booked for real compos etc so it just got skipped. sorry :/
but yeah, maybe we could have announced the internet connection better, although people could also have asked :) (like hbc did)

i think nowadays at every party either the organisers have some mobile internet thing, or at least they know a visitor who does and doesnt mind trading some for karhu. not asking and then complaining, to me, seems a bit silly.
skrebbel: The problem is that all of the karhu was consumed quite early!

Well, it's not really complaining when we actually asked for feedback on improvements first :)
...even more photos for kindergarden added in the http://www.darklite.org photogallery... :)
Friggin' awesome party! Too bad I was so wasted, though. Nice meeting you all. Also, I hope I didn't scar Lonestarr too much with my awkward, drunken fanboyism ;). Also, the brainstormobile was the awesomest place to be! I hope to see it at many more parties in the future ;D.
and as a final note, if anyone wants to use the party system we used at KG for their own parties, it is finally available here.
wohoooo ;D
It doesnt work 100% with IExplorer.
Atleast it didnt at KG :/
