There was some genAI image competition a few years ago somewhere (not demoscene), and yes, people did try to cheat by submitting real photos (and were subsequently disqualified).

"if you use it in a demoscene prod for a party or anywhere else, you WILL be disowned by everyone, including groups, and will never be wanted anywhere near the scene EVER again"?
This would totally not fly for various reasons, among them the scene's plurality, decentralised nature and historical record of endlessly discussing controversial topics.

And what's this Sippenhaft guilty-by-association "including groups" thing?

Just extrapolating what people seem to think. They feel AI is that much an existential threat. Removing friends from your circle due to political/ethical views is very much in vogue these days, so disowning from friends/groups due to a less than ultra critical view does seem to make perfect sense.

I bet some people after seeing how harsh the backlash is here against any AI usage and how orthodox some people are here, will just avoid this whole community as a whole and move somewhere else. If this is what you want, this is exactly what you will get.

And to me that's exactly what they want. Which is fine, people can do what they want. There is outlets for creative coding thats not just the demoscene. The demoscene tropes and things are not copyrighted/trademarked to release demos completely elsewhere.

Isn't it the crux of the problem here that anti-AI camp is directly opposing what blueberry wanted to do?

Of course, anyone can do whatever he wants (outside of the demoscene), but the basic human need is to be accepted by the tribe/community. And if the gatekeepers here (we all know who) are opposing, everyone else will conform - so I know it's a losing battle.

Why do you want to be approved by a not so nice community?
Who hurt you?

Which to me, they are the gatekeepers, they can do what with their scene I wish I guess :/ I think it was said earlier that demoscene clout/achievements is what amounts to being allowed to having enough say in how things will be ran.

As I said, there is places even without human interaction to do creative coding in a means that doesn't infringe on their processes (like LLMs/AI), or even their style of what they consider to be a "demo" to begin with, with their tastes (like if you want to do a demo shitpost/rant style, or something even more avante garde/experimental without it being held up to the rigour of being a "demo"). You could do Youtube vids with comments off and a link to the executable/demo if you really wanted to.

As I said, you don't. Do stuff completely outside any "scene" to begin with. Don't conform or try to fit into a community. Be your own person. Do stuff entirely on your own terms.
