Fearmoths are dead + Shane comes clean

I expect most of you guessed by now that Shanethewolf is not a real scener or a real person. Shanethewolf is just a character I invented some years ago to try to breathe life and controversy into the scene, and to wind people up and mock the “rules” of the scene too many people take seriously. It started out as an experiment just to see how people would react and to create some material for diskmagazines etc but I was having too much fun to stop. I involved a few of my friends, including my best friend Jeremy (Ultimate Gas) and we revived The Fearmoths on the PC.
Yes, The Fearmoths is a parody group and Shanethewolf is a fictitious character who epitomises the lamest, most pitiful nerds and obnoxious brats on the scene. Most members of The Fearmoths aren’t active sceners as most of you probably guessed. Many members are just real life friends who we talk to about our ideas. Porky and Teat are two guys we talk to in the park, Uncle Boose is a friend who likes to contribute ideas and sometimes helps with music. The Various Slime Creep, Lovely Bladder and The Incredulous Hulf are admitedly just additional characters made up by Jeremy and me. Regicide and Rahman are two friends I met via the scene and came up with the idea of releasing their work under Fearmoths (resulting in our last demo, Alter Ego).
I am a big fan of the demo scene and have been for many years. I am not a talented scener but instead of letting the scene formalities repress my enjoyment of the scene and spending days sitting back waiting for someone else to involve me (like so many other sceners do) I decided to gather some friends and produce our own demos.
So what if demomakers, ripping music, gfx or whatever is “lame”? It’s fun! It’s more fun than being a real scener because you get to think of ideas all the time and when you are ready you just sit down and work on it. When you do things the accepted scene way you have to wait for a coder/artist/musician etc to do everything and they decide how it can be done and how to use your work. But if you use a demo maker like Videotracker or Demopaja you have freedom to make demos when you want to and how you want. Too many sceners worry about their reputation but I’ve never had a reputation to lose.
But to get to the point, finally. My best friend Jeremy (Ultimate Gas) had some serious issues that has forced him to quit the scene and it has been hard to find any fun or motivation for the scene or my usual irritating nonsense since then. So I have decided to lay Shanethewolf and The Fearmoths to rest. It’s been fun, but the joke has gone on long enough.

Ok Unseen I'll be honest...
1. Yes. I figured releasing under TRSI without permission would bring instant recognition and Lipstick was created as a scapegoat who I could blame when it all backfired. :)
2. Because I'll get beaten up and because I never have enough money.
3. Ok, I did release the virus, but I didn't create it. What happened is somebody calling himself Ryben Kozlak sent it to me and my friend saying it was an intro. I didn't run it because I was suspicious but the damn thing ruined my friend's Amiga. I got so angry that someone would do that, and how nasty a lot of sceners had become to me (death threats etc) so I decided to share "Ryben's" work with the rest of the scene. I admit I reacted rashly and thoughtlessly and I genuinely regret that it affected people who did nothing against me.
But there were two viruses I think. The first one had my name on it, but that had nothing to do with me at all and the second one was the aforesaid exe that was sent to me.

Sorry Pete but I was quite sincere when we spoke by email and I still REALLY want to see that demo/intro idea you told me about! But I am glad I finally know who was posting as Rahman! He's not made up, and he was actually very curious who it was. :)
