no we all dont think so.

we even refer to oldskool each meaning different thang.

for one its second reality/future crew. for someone else its state of the art/spaceballs. while for me its rather dutch breeze/blackmail and all these demos are completely different style.

i think true oldskool is a scene production, one which wouldnt be acceptable for someone outside scene. scrollers and stuff. while nuskool is stuff being made for the sake of it, often not containing any sign of scene at all..

i really like how Blasphemy and Purple mixed both in Kkowboy. they have scroller with greetings but otherwise its ultranuskool stuph.

Btw,. I think Scali's compo is a great idea, I wish there will be more compos like this. I would like to take part, but I am not sure, I don't have the time and skills yet to do something good. I was dreaming for some kick ass big 386/486 demos like in the oldschool times, but this needs no/or far deadlines and lot's of time. But I will see. It will be nice though to see some other entries and test them in my old PCs...

Sadly, the oldskool has died. We all know it. Only a few party's are pure coding (like breakpoint and bcnparty).

Now a group prefers to make a quick demo in party-coding than a great demo of 6 months working hard. With great effects, great music, optimized code, ...

Maybe we are all too old for this, or too young to create a great and complex demo

Still there is some hope ... with groups like farbrausch, boah, well... maybe we can talk about a resurrection of the oldskool spirit (hope so)
