Seriously, I am really on the same frequency as him. I like this guy. I also listen camel and pink floyd. I do psychedelism. What do I have to do more to be like him ? wipe some sheep's ass ? code on atari st ??? Listen king crimson ?
cool
Nerd Alert ;)
very inspiring
Minter's blog is a blast to read as well, as he's so happy with the way this thing is going - posting pix of it all the time, and how fun it is developing it - it just rules. But, well, Minter rules.
jeff minter working on a non-obscure platform? so this game will likely never be released...
Um, Havoc, you do remember he did the 360 light-music-thingie that comes on all 360's, right?
It looks like a bad trip.
Looks like Tempest
truck, i remember every lightsynth minter made since trip-a-tron, but wouldn't call any of them "games"
i would consider myself one of the biggest fans of minter, but i think this time he overdid it. this game just looks like an interactive visualizer and seems to play like tempest but with some features that just make the gameplay easier for the casual gamer. the only difficulty of the game seems to come from the totally overloaded gfx that let you hardly spot the enemies crawling from the back.
i hope i'm not right with my bashings, cause only playing the game will show if he succeeded to deliver another visionary ;) game. but at the moment it seems like this is a straight follow up on the also visually overloaded tempest 3000 (not 2000!), which is a bad thing in my opinion.

the screenshot however looks damn ugly :D
level 64 looks beautiful in action
I met Jeff many moons ago at a computer show, I was young and he wasn't patronising to me like a few others, pretty sound dude. Did anyone ever see the paper magazine he used to do nature of the beast, for free, was pretty cool.
yes his idea's are pretty trippy, but people like him and matthew smith go for something different from the norm. I've not seen this latest thing , but I'm sure it will be well thought out like the other things..
is there any llama's featured?lol

Hmm, this Jeff Minter guy sounds talentless and pretentious.
your new friend, then!
shane: i dont recall him ever claiming to be blooming with talent. he just does videogames he enjoys playing. for quite a few years now.
Jeff Minter's the man! Llamatron is my favourite game ever! I spent countless hours (fruitlessly) trying to complete that as a child...
Until he makes a game with realistic blood and violence, crime and destruction I don't want to know!
shane: :)
uglyyy :(
shane: I doubt GTA on LSD would sell :p
i remember a certain audio experiment for one of the lazy tpolm sunday radios where a certain finnish tpolmer would play gta whilst another certain finnish tpolmer would twiddle some knobs on the effects processor unit to create some sort of bad dub on acid kinda trip. the shootings were fun ^_^
Come on, he doesn't sound pretentious. But he doesn't sound incredibly brilliant either. Maybe those two things are related.
