> Improved GUS emulation

The GUS emulation was improved by matching it to the Second Reality soundtrack.. Not that I knew why, but I supplied them with an recorded original and stuff. So don't complain ;-) I think it's much better than before, especially since also some additional demos seem to work.

phoenix: Well, yes, the list is of course still working, tho it'd need some work invested in it for additional useful information and all. But I'm not really having time for that at the moment... :(

great stuff! can't wait to test the new version on some of the non-working demos from the past. more speed is always a good thing too :)

unlock: how about giving someone else access to your site/script if you haven't got the time? the dosbox demo compatibility list is a valuable resource and it should be utilized.. (oh, don't look at me - i don't know diddly squat about php and my plate is full enough as it is these days :) i will still submit entries though

Great work! But Toasted crashes just before the rollercoaster... :((((

gloom: that would of course not be worst idea, the problem with it is that it's all running on scene.org on the same accounts as PAiN, and I don't really feel like giving away the login data of the PAin web resources :)

Well, since the list is quite simple and all I might be doing something at work when nothing else is up. At least I've just added 0.62 to the versions dropdown box this morning.

Now, I'd like to use this thread here for feature requests: Tell me what you think that's needed within the list or what i should improve. I'll then see what I can do and surely do the most important things. Thanks for your help!

I've just been informed that the new version of DOSbox plays my beloved Textro by OTM quite well, using a frameskip of 2 (ctrl+F8) and GUS music.

Well, so far, my only suggestion is that you can do without the download link field, since pouet has download links and pretty much everything should be on pouet. Everything else works well for me!

I made a couple of tryouts with the dynamic core yesterday night on my machine (AMD 2ghz, win2k) and the audio quality was ok with 22khz output (more than enough for tracking) and "out of the box" setup (no particular .cfg tweaks).
I think I tried up to 20 channels...

gemini: try pressing ctrl-f12 to bring the cycles up above 10000, then alt-enter to go fullscreen. should be much faster. also, i've found that the normal core usually works well.

can I run hplus in dosbox now?
added on the 2004-10-07 18:19:36 by loaderror loaderror
loaderror: surprisingly, yes, it even worked in 0.61. just get yourself a P4EE or Athlon FX first.. it's painfully slow (as in seconds-per-frame). Also, the colors aren't perfect, maybe the original was hi-color/VESA.

I love dosbox. Next I'll dig up my Watcom compiler and go retro!

"emulators suck! buy a real 386!"

(sound familiar?)

in seriousness, two disappointments so far with 0.62:

1. music in Amnesia & Black Glass 2 is broken now
2. charset in Yo! is broken now
