dalezy: i had a nice goth girl paint me an extra eye on the forehead with "Tatoo Markers". It washed off by the time i left the party, so that i don't get trouble with swiss border authorities.

Yeah, I had booked the flight from Bratislava to Zurich (not from Vienna because Sky Europe, which is 1/3 the price of Austrian Airlines, only goes from Bratislava), but I didn't catch the plane in time.

There was supposed to be a shuttle bus that goes from Vienna to Bratislava. Here's why I neither reached that bus nor the plane in time:

1. It was a Friday - lot of traffic, jam/backup/tailback on the highway

2. I got wrong information at Vienna Airport about the location from where the shuttle bus would start

3. In the end I missed the shuttle bus by 6 minutes

4. We caught up the shuttle bus and took over at the highway; and in that very moment, the bus took the exit from the highway behind us... So we took the next exit, got lost and didn't catch up with the bus again. In the end we arrived at the Austrian-Slovak border 15 minutes before the plane would take off - too late as the airport is rather far away from the border.

5. It was quite stressy, a lot of excitement... Finally I wondered whether to take the train to Zurich. But I didn't manage to get a reserved seat, so it would have meant that I'd have had to keep standing on the floor during all the night...

6. Moreover, I lost 240 EUR, as the flight had already been reserved and "prepaid"...

Well, so I had to stay in Vienna while Buenzli happened.

How was the party?

party was mice. i took a train one way for about 60 eurs, hat to change a few times, crossed bodensee on a ferry... i took off at the afternoon of the second party party day and made it right to the major compos.

not getting a seat reserved doesn't mean that you have to stand all the way, just that ONE seat cannot be reserved for the whole length... so you just take an unreserved seat, or the one which is reserved only for a part of the ride. so you would need to change seats a few times. and besides, how weak one has to be to be unable to stand for mere 5 hours?

on the way back, metalvotze gang agreed to give me a ride. one of them lives just outside my doorstep. :>

btw, it pays off to allow for some time to be wasted when planning.

well, shame you didnt come, was looking forward to chatting with you about things.

well the party pretty much ruled.
wish i had had an extra day to talk more with some people. :( oh well, hope most of them will be at evoke.

ps:
Tomcat had reserved the flight for me via the Internet. The next time I plan to go to a party abroad, I'll consider other options (train, car etc.) as well.

You may be right that standing five hours may be endurable under normal circumstances, but don't forget I was very stressed by the events that had happened on the day. As a matter of fact I felt far more tired and went to bed much earlier than usually on that day.

Next to the fact that you can almost always find a spot to "sit" more or less..

standing for 5 hours isn't that much... i could more "extreme" stories.
on the other hand you were about to board an international train - this means it's usually far from clogged, all you would've had to do was to ask "may i take this seat please?" and crash there 'till the train arrives. of course, unless you're scared of socializing :D

12h of train to come to buenzli, with a boring italian seating on my lift who was not scared of socializing :( Luckyly the bar was open all the night :)
