how i do stuff
category: general [glöplog]
I just realized you can only post once at a time in the one-liner thread, so I started this forum. Maybe others will use it to share their workflows, too.
cheers & enjoy,

Thanks for this !
I like that in between the technical details, you keep giving more general advices about Art, and guidelines. It really speaks to me.
So essentially :
1-right side + front (orthoscopic, I presume, for accuracy),
2-adding/positioning the greebles until they follow exactly the shape
3-Boolean fiesta
4-... (talent, skill, art + perseverance !) I+= 1, while I<50 goto line 1
5-PROFIT !

Thats way too cool :)
You´re welcome.
1. Hmm - rather to get depth. If you have properly stacked depth and definition in the side/front view it probably works from all angles. with any project.
If things like undercuts are behind - bblocked from elements from one view - you can always insert a cube in front
(Like camera near clipping) to do a non destructive boolean with it during work or hide front parts, and do the work further on.
The more you can recognize of the form from one View the better.
2. Everything I tried with procedurals / greebles did not really work for me. The human brain is so capable of recognizing Patterns - even the slightest ones - chances are it feels off / artificial somehow. Eg fractals when not controlled properly. In general - no shortcut got me where I wanted to get. Reducing details afterwards create (at least for me) more problems than making it by hand.
3. yeah that’s actually the fun part
4. Watching uncountable hours ! of videos online how things are done. reading. Watching hours of learning material, tutorials, rewind, repeat from the start. watch again.
5. Hmm - I made some money with 3d stufff in the 3d printing sector - but in „united Germany“ its almost impossible to even find people who speak the same language and respect / understand what one is doing. Going to the states is not an
Option. And let’s see what all the ai bs will bring.
Thx guys
