Pouet admins: can we have a new demo category NOCPU

category: general [glöplog]

Hi there was a NOCPU demo competition at Gerp 2026, there doesn't seems to be suitable category for such products, can we have a new one please?

Don't we need a few more parties or an otherwise concerted effort from multiple groups to have that?

I don't think we need a new prod type or platform for this. Just a new compo category. Those traditionally cover all the different compos hosted at various parties.

For consistency with existing categories, "amiga no-cpu demo" is probably the most appropriate name for the compo category.

On a related note, I'm maintaining a list of all No-CPU Amiga demos released so far.

I do wish I would have released a stub when I had the idea. But I didn't, I kept it secret hoping to find time to spring it on the scene. I didn't, and Blueberry deserves all the credit.

It IS a new concept, separate from all other compos and very similar to shader compos (which also don't have a category?)

If both are dependent on a specific platform (because of the startup/wrapper/runner, which in the case of shader compos could be *quite a lot*), I guess we have to make it "this platform or that".

But the concept is that the platform is left behind, and then the release runs on a coprocessor (other examples, Atari ST microcontroller, Falcon DSP, any microcontroller present on any platform).

So maybe a general Coprocessor category, no platforms, no limitations? There are lots of artificial limitations like 4k, 8k, 40k, 64k and plenty of platforms.
