TMDC7 Site Launched
category: general [glöplog]
TMDC is the pseudo-annual Text Mode Demo Competition, a demo-making
contest held over the internet. The seventh TMDC will be held in
2004 around 11.11. - 12.12.
The new site for competition arranged this year is now launched,
although the competition is still a few months away. The rules
have been revised again a little bit. Additionally the download
section of the site has been enhanced with lots of new stuff,
including all releases from the earlier contests as well.
Slogan of the TMDC this year is "Demo or Die".
The competition web site is available at address http://tAAt.fi/tmdc/.

You could always due black on grey (color "|07"). Notepad mode on a sick and dying monitor... :)

So the question remains...
...Is Farb-Rausch entering?
...Is Farb-Rausch entering?
And so what if they do? That shoudln't stop anyone from entering.
Yep, but there is no public voting. Jury decides...

Yeah, we want an invitation =) THat TMDC 5 invtro was some serious iznit!
Hm. They should rename this the "software effects in 80x50 compo". I don't see the point of forcing people to 80x50 textmode when you can do SO MUCH MORE with real textmode. With a limitation of 80x50, why not just display the prods in an 80x50 24-bit color window that the user can make fullscreen? Same thing.
i think they wanna keep it rooted to the original textmode limitations or something.. i mean, they dont even allow to change the palete and stuff..
Yeah, but that's what I don't understand -- for one thing, "original textmode" was 80x25, not 80x50. And changing the palette, font, clock, and other stuff could produce some really neat stuff. By not allowing all that, it really turns into an 80x50 compo and not a real textmode compo.
c:\> mode 80,50
@P01:
"mode 80,50" does not work on anything less than a VGA adapter. It would be 80x43 in EGA and 80x25 on CGA. Well actually I believe there were a few hacks that allowed 80x27 and higher but you get the idea.
I suppose this raises a valid argument; if you're going to support a VGA text-graphics mode, why not relax the restrictions a little more and see what the coders come up with -- or keep it minimalist in original textmode form?
