Technical Barriers: An Oscilloscope Demonstration by BUS ERROR Collective

Title: Technical Barriers
Group: BUS ERROR Collective

Description:

..We found this old videotape collecting dust in the lab, and figured we'd submit it. :)

--

All joking aside, while it has been possible to perform 3D transforms of lissajous & wireframe models for some time now, the ability to do 3D transforms of vectorized bitmapped images is (..we think!..) a world first. This is also the first appearance of vectorized bitmaps which do not rely on rasterization.

A stock 2011.12 RasPi Model B was used as our signal source. Stock footage courtesy of The Prelinger Archive and other free-use / public domain sources. Video of the oscilloscope screen was captured from dood.al as well as from vintage hardware.

Greetings to everyone at Revision 2024. You are our heroes, both then and now.

Note to organizers:

You may want to explain what an oscilloscope is.. basically a piece of electronics test equipment that visualizes voltage levels on a CRT, like an old heartbeat monitor. Images are produced on screen by connecting the oscilloscope to the headphone jack of a computer, and playing a stereo .wav file.
