Fan of Tracing Rays

Fan of Tracing Rays
Hogmanay.party 2020 wild-compo entry by Nupo (choir by Torvelot)

This demo is kind of continuation to "Tracing real rays" released at
Revision 2020. Instead of 2 GNSS (="GPS") antennas this uses 3 antennas
used to solve the orientation and location of the rig, where lidar and
camera are mounted on. And instead of a laser distance measurement module,
rotating lidar is used. Data from these devices can then be used to
generate a point cloud that can subsequently be used to generate mesh/
meshes for objects.

Collecting the data and generating point clouds and stuff were done by my
(QT & open source) program: https://github.com/GNSS-Stylist/GNSS-Stylus.
CGI-parts were done using Godot game engine.

List of programs used:
- QT creator for creating the SW used to communicate with the devices and
  for logging/manipulating the data.
- Godot for creating CGI-parts
- MeshLab for creating 3d-objects (out of the point clouds) you can see
  on the CGI-parts.
- OpenShot for video editing
- Audacity for audio editing
- WinUAE to grab a video of the original demo

After "Tracing real rays" I continued tinkering with GNSS-devices and
then started to wonder if using this kind of rotating lidar could be
feasible for scanning a 3d-object. And after a lot of thinking, coding
and tinkering it seemed to be.
