                             (20TH CENTURY MAGGIE)

Thank heavens for gravity, for if it weren't there, then surely that hugely
oversized logo would be plummeting to its, and our, doom?

Anyway, you are now reading the Atari show special edition, brought to you at,
errm, the Autumn Atari Shows.. It has been a little while since we were away,
but now, we're pleased to be back, and there have been one or two changes since
the last time we were here as well..

 New Falcon Maggie shell..

Lucky readers of this issue will be able to see for themselves, the first part
of the Falcon shell upgrade is ready, and with end results that will please the
eye.. There is still more to come, including quite a bit that wasn't finished in
time.. For a basic textual navigation guide, read on, there have been some
changes from the old style shell..

The menus, and the point and click system to accessing textfiles remains
unchanged, albeit the menus are rather more stylish looking.. Within the text
displayer, 'move' up and down the text with the cursor keys, press 'space' to
see a picture, where applicable, and then press 'escape' to leave an article..
There is no status screen where you can turn the music on or off, change the
fonts etc.. This has not yet been done.. The rest of it is fairly simple, and
can be figured out.. There is a bit more information in the main issue itself,
but not a lot more..

 I'm online!

It finally happened, I got the modem just in time for the last issue, and
finally got around to doing something with it.. More about email addresses
and stuff inside..

 Future Publishing - Futile Publishing!

A little bit of information via Ed Cleveland and the pages of Computer Shopper
Magazine.. Long suffering veterans of the Atari scene may recognise what is
happening here?

Amiga magazines, until recently quite plentiful (in the UK) have been going down
like things that are subject to nasty infectious diseases.. Amiga Review (any
relation to ST Review?) did not go quietly, and went out with a rant directed at
the mainstream glossies, claiming 'guerilla marketing' by them was forcing the
independent magazines out of business.. The list of suspects on the 'glossies'
side contracts narrowly down to.... Amiga Format, which is the sister title of
the year-dead ST Format.. A look at Amiga Format in its current state reviews
and we see, yes, a reduced page count, increased cover price, and reducing
circulation..

The conclusion is that Future Publishing are seeking to squeeze the last drops
of cash out of the minority computer market, first it was our turn, now it is
theirs!!

 Belated thanks..

Thanks to New Beat Design for their brain blasting Falcon intro, and to Tat for
his efforts on the ST intro.. Cheers guys, you're worth it!!

 Late Breaking News!!

I love late breaking news, now take this great bloke from Poland for instance..

Hello Richard! :))

Yesterday somebody told me that Maggie #24 is available, but I can't
find it anywhere! Could you give me an URL or ftp address? I will be
very grateful...

About Amok demo - it's released in 98%. I already got it, but I can't
spread it around. Gfx maker from Confusions didn't enjoy a few little
gfx in Amok and it will be fixed soon... You must be patient! I can only
say that it's brainblasting stuff :))

Did you heard about Shadows problems? Everything seems that
it's a dead team... But don't worry Felice! I created a new ST/Falcon
demo team! yes!

Here is the unofficial member-status:

Spider - Code (Falcon)
Modred - Code (ST)
Sector - (an old Shadows gfx member!)
Grey - (WHQ, swapper)

So don't worry! In plans we have two intros: one for ST (we have some
things already done) and one for Falcon (about two effects up to now).

Okay, that's all for today....

c ya another time!

Michal
Grey/-under construction-
     (we haven't a name yet!)
