I as the founder of this group appreciate that you have taken the time
to download it. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did coding it. Actually
at the time we didn't enjoy it at all because we barely made the deadline
at the NAiD intro compo. But overall we are glad that it is finally out and
sorry to everyone that we are releasing it so late but we had to put SB
 support in!

We as members of Pure Resistance are happy to say this is our 3rd
major release. With each one we all improve as a group and with this in
consideration, the sky is the limit. While this term is generic, I feel
it does apply to this group and I am more that happy to be associated
with everyone in the group. One thing that we are striving to improve on
is our coding department. We have 2 great coders now but we could use 1-2
more coders with one of them hopefully being stateside. Right now we have
a strong music and GFX division and are looking for only the best in each
category so if you are interested drop me a line at pyro@xnet.com.

Well since I along with Freejack and Virtual Seeker were at NAiD, it is
only fitting that I give a short story on our adventures at NAiD. Lets just
start off with how we arrived there. All three of us took different
means of getting here. Freejack came by train, VS came by car, and I flew
in. On the 14th of April I along with my cousin (Black Knight) were trying
to find our way to the party. Might I add that Montreal has a great Subway
system which allowed for us to get there quickly and efficiently. Once we
got to the NAiD site we were looking for a place to enter. So we circled
around the school until we came up to this one door in the middle of nowhere.
I entered of course and there was Virtual Seeker standing. It was quite
odd in that I didn't know how he looked or what to expect. He was with his
friend, which I must add is a cool guy, who goes by the name of Shadow
Warrior. He would later on be a great support guy for the group at NAiD.
Well we proceeded together to find the actual site and we found it! There
I got to meet up with Med (which was a great guy to meet!) and the one and
only Veritech Knight. He was very hospitable and ran a great party! It
was then that we all got situated. We found our sleeping quarters and got
VS situated at the computer where he would be coding this fine intro for the
next 24hrs. It was time that me and my cousin left so we could get back to
his house and enjoy a night to remember. Lets just say his parents weren't
home! Well we woke up and headed to the site. Now the place was buzzing
with excitement. One of whom was our great musician Freejack. We didn't
know who to look for but fortunately he had a good eye and found the group
when he saw VS working on the White Heat intro. At this time we met many
interesting people. Well 3:00 came around and the music and GFX entries were
due. So we entered everything and we were happy for the moment. Now the
problem was the intro at hand. The deadline was 7:00 and we weren't done due
to being told we could stay in the computer area all of Friday night and then
being kicked out at 10 pm. Well now came the music compo that everyone was
waiting for. We heard some great tunes and some really boring ones.
Unfortunately for Freejack and Draygen, their tunes were played at the end
and didn't get the attention as the first 10 or so songs :(. But they did
a great job never the less. Now the official word was that due to many
people coding onsite intros that the deadline was midnight. We were relieved.
Now we were all set. Hell during this time we even came up with some new
kicking effects! This time I guess was a time to get to know people, jump on
iRC and hell get some drinks with friends. 12:00 came around and we were
done! Now it was finally time to party! At 2:00 news came to us that the
deadline was delayed again to 3:00, so we asked for our intro back and we
added the fonts that you see now. Next morning came around and we got 1
hour of sleep. My cousin who at that point never saw a demo or used a
computer to make GFX had found his calling and stayed up all night making
an awesome pix which unfortunately couldn't be put up on the big screen.
Well we all woke up and we were buzzing about the intro and GFX compo.
We felt we had a good chance in both. First came the GFX compo. Both
Schizosynth and I competed and had our pictures shown on the big screen.
This was an honor to both of us and when Schizo's picture was shown
there was a big round of applause. Now people were getting ready for
the big intro compo. Many rumors were flying some about a pisstro and
others about Ren. Some were true some weren't. Then the moment came that our
intro was put on the screen. We were happy that it finally came and what a
sight it was! Then came the demo compo which we didn't enter :( which had
some great entries. Then the final results came in. Schizosynths pix
won 2nd place later to be ruled 1st after the winner was found cheating and
our intro was placed 4th. This concluded the party and we were on our way!

Virtual Seeker here. This is the part of demo coding I hate the worst.
Documentation! :) Ok, I'll try to run by a few tips to make sure the intro
works properly and what to expect. Ok, let's start.

 Q) The sound doesn't work properly or the intro jams.

 A) Make sure the auto detection has the proper settings of your sound card
and make sure you selected the proper sound card as well. You can enter
the IRQ/DMA/etc... specifications by yourself if the detections screws
up. The player is by Otto Chrons (author of DMP) so blame him if it
    doesn't work :)

 Q) I get a memory warning message and the intro quits.

 A) During testing, White Heat required around 475k of base memory to run
properly. Since then, things have been added and we were just too lazy
to test thoroughly again. If you have around 525k+ free, you should be
    all set.

 Q) Well, how do I fix the memory problem then?

 A) Do we really have to go through this? Try removing some of your TSRs
like your mouse driver or a disk cache. That usually does the trick
for me. Also, try loading things high or just do a clean boot.

 Q) The "Pure Resistance" logo vectors are weird colors. Aren't they
    supposed to be shade?

 A) Yup. For some weird reason sometimes when you run the intro with
SB sound the palette settings mess up. This occurs really randomly
and I can't find the problem anywhere. I guess since this intro
was originally only with GUS support not all effects ported that
    well :)

 Q) White Heat just plain won't run!

 A) Make sure you have the HEAT.EXE and HEAT.S3M in the same directory
and that they are the same size as above. If not, then an error
could have occured in the archive or you have a virus. Try re-
    installing it.

 Q) What if I want to cantact you to 1) tell you this thing doesn't work
and scream like a jerk at you? or 2) thing you're awesome and want to
    be your humble underling?

 A) 1) Send a message to pyromaniac (pyro@xnet.com) with the subject being
"Forward to VS" and I'll get it. Unfortunatelly my account is closing
down and I'll be swapping accounts all summer long so I won't have a
    permanent account 'till fall.
    2) Get your head checked, and if you're ruled sane, follow step 1.
