Splendid by Excused
Splendid, by Excused, presented at ASM'97
Yet another unknown group! How exciting! <ahem. ;>
heh.
Art/Anim. Frost ak. Danny Oros [Dcb] Danny@Cylab.com
Code Depth ak. Guillaume Provost [Excused] Depth@mediascan.ca

Sahara Surfers : Midas Sound System
Tran : Pmodew
Fulg [Satire] : Midas Patching for .IT Module Support.
Jare [Iguana] : GIF loader :>
Note : All Art, Textures, models, were entirely designed
by Frost over a period of 2 weeks. A "tour de force" for someone
already working his brains off at work. ;> The animation and keyframing
we're entirely done in 2 days. The music in 3 days. The code in...
2 years ;> yeah.
The 3D engine itself is in pure assembler, mixed with "midas loading"
C code. blablabla to 3000 poly bla gouraud persp.corr/16pix. tmap + 32 bit

We Dedicate this demo to the North American Scene and our people.
May more good demos be produced by it! And greetings to our Restless
mag from which I hear there shall soon be a new release ;>.
Requirements for this demo :
About 8? 10? (party versions, you know :) megs of Ram, and 96k
of conventional memory (no typo errors there ;).
A 486DX CPU is required to run the demo, although the latter
requires at *least* a Pentium 120mhz to run smoothly. We're sorry
for this, but time ran short to optimize code. A high-Color capable
card/monitor and a soundcard are, of course, highly recommended ;>
This demo might encounter problems in a Windows'95 dosshell, earlier
versions had such problems, then they just disappeared (oh joy of
coding ;), so I don't know if there's a windows bomb sitting in the
demo or not ;>.
The project was originally planned as a job-applying demo for UbiSoft, a
game company recently installed in Montreal, Canada. It is NOT however
in any way a "game" demonstration.
< P.S. you can always wish us good luck, feel free to e-mail us : none
of us ever had fan mail before ;P >
We would like to officially thank the following persons without which
this demo would not have been possible :
Fulg [Satire] : for providing us with his IT playing version
of Midas, for learning me the ABC's of assembly
programming millenaires ago, for being such
a pal, and for spending time debugging midas IT
bugs at the last minute while he himself has a
demo to finish for crash, and little time to
spare. Thanks fulg ;>
Psyke [DCB],
Snibble [DCB] : for always being handy when it comes to technical
questions of any sort. (alors, les roubignols 3d? :)
Dynabyte [Satire],
Jare [Iguana] : for providing sensitive information on the 3DS
format and related mathematical questions.
Deebz especially, in explaining the mechanics
of Hierarchical transformation systems in 3DS,
Katmull-rom Bezier curves, Quaternion interpolations
and FOV/viewing froum-stroum <?> control.
LCA [Pulse/France] : For being a good pal, a great coder, and
always ready for constructive criticism on our
work.
Red! : For Providing his FTP Server when we needed to
move the demo around. ;>
We would like also to thank the people that have patiently betatested our
demo : Phoenix [Hornet], Red!, Fulg [Satire], and Darkness [Imphobia].
Darkness really wanted me to put a pub for wired somewhere so here it is :
WIRED'98
;>
We have no worth mentionning previous releases, apart of maybe three or
four crappy intros you don't really want to know about ;>.
