Toy Songs by SandS [web]

Welcome to the SandS' music-disk called "Toy SongS"!

We have collected 18 chip-tunes here, most of them were made for intros or
realtime music competitions.
 Enjoy!
Note: Press the song button twice to loop current song.
Note2: Better use Gravis UltraSound and DOS.
Note3: If you like to use external player, please, use only XMPlay.
ModPlug still craps tuning on chip samples! WinAmp too.

1. Trombonskij Bazetizm (Tangerine)
A little funky introduction for toy disk. Contains real
trombone samples, played by my dacha neighbour Stepan.

2. On The Run (Treks)
42kb jazz track. Sounds like a real jazz improvisation. The upright bass,
hummond, jazzy drums, complex rhythm - it's got everything you, jazz
lovers, need. :) Add reverb to it, you won't belive that it's just
a chip tune.

3. Smiackk! (Tangerine)
This funny chip-tune took the 1st place at 20meehnutz music
compo #3 Cycle 3. I don't think that tracking in 20 minutes
might be very serious occupation :).

4. Lonely Room (Tangerine)
My entry for 1-hour compo, disqualified for being a little
late. Seems to be a trip-hop/ambient chip-tune (converted later
from IT to S3M).

5. ChipFly (Manwe)
This 8-channel S3M was composed in 1998 for 64k-intro by Taurus/OMEGA.
Packed size of this module is less than 17 kilobytes - that's what the
intro requires :). Unfortunately the intro still wasn't finished.
This module is first, where I rendered chip resonance-sounds
(you'll hear them again and again in my later chip-tunes :).
A beautiful noise-fx is a Tangerine's small merit.

6. Two Notes! (Tangerine)
Somehow this strange chip-tune took the 2nd place at
20meehnutz compo #5 Cycle 3. This is also very unserious
piece that may be interesting only for chip-tune lovers or my
great fans ;). The only positive side is that it's very small
(as my other chip-tunes).

7. Nice World (Manwe)
A waltz! Pumping easy-listening waltz with fiddles and funny toy-sounds.
The song is composed for Proxium's intro "Nice World". I have to admit
that I enjoy the melody of this tiny waltz quite a lot, and sometimes I even
think of reproducing it with the help of modern quality music gear.

8. Average Chip Funk (Manwe)
I appreciate this module! :) Tiny (about 10 kb packed size), but
sounds quite acceptable for merry funk. Module was used in "Funtro-3" -
funny 64k-intro by Universe. Probably, we (SandS) will even record
live-version of this funk-song somedays :)

9. Before The Battle (Tangerine)
This pathetic chip-tune took the 2nd place at another 20mc,
converted from XM. It's funny that converting took much more
time (about 1 hour) then composing (about 10 minutes :).

10. Jingle Funky Bells (Manwe)
Frankly speaking, I don't like remixes of any kind. But guys from
Draft Crew did ask me to make a remix of "Jingle Bells" for their
new-year intro. They asked me very much. And for I was simply high on funk
in 1998, they could expect nothing else from me. Having taken a pair of
chords with my guitar, I sampled them and made this remix. In my
opinion, it fits the intro quite right.

11. Fly Over Misty Mountains (Manwe)
This module has a hard destiny. At first I composed it for Proxium
group, who worked on their new intro at 1998. It seemed to them, that
the size of module (23 kb packed) was too large for 64-k intro. Then I
made another module for them (it is included in this music-disk and
is called by the title of intro - "Swop"), but it also turned out
to be large (14 kb packed size) - and as a result they have chosen
someone's chip-tune in ZX-Spectrum style (Tangerine's comment: "burp...
oh, sorry"). MoNsTeR heard "Fly Over The Misty Mountains" after that
and wished to use it in his 64k-intro. It's all right, but he has not
finished the intro yet :). As far as the module is concerned, at least
I like it because it contains 2 parts, each one of different mood,
what is not typical for chip-tunes. And in general it sounds not like
a chip-tune, but like a normal full-budget module. By the way,
Tangerine also had left some tracks in this module, having written
an interesting bass-line with low-sine in one pattern (Tangerine's
comment: "hey, I have forgotten which one was that").

12. Three Little Bells (Tangerine)
Also cheezy 3/4 chip-tune with a little repetitive theme
played with bell-like sounds. In my opinion, it doesn't sound
as a danceable waltz. (And again, XM to S3M convertion...)

13. Clot's Fun (Manwe)
Actually, I composed this melody long ago as if it would be a present
for my cat Greta's birthday :). And in the very end of 1999 Sunman/PFC
decided to make a new year intro, so he asked for my help with music
and graphics. So, while sitting at home with Xanah, december 31,
I was transferring this melody into tracker. Finally, Xanah and I
were late for a party at Tangerine's home, and celebrated the New Year
in a metro train :) ...It's a pity that Sunman hadn't manage to finish
the intro until the New Year came, and later rejected it at all.
But some time later Tangerine participated in creation of this module by
varying the drum-part.

14. Trouble's Nightmare (Tangerine)
A funny chip song, composed in 20 minutes at Manwe's
birthday (on his computer). It has a kind of "Future Crew-
feeling" in it, maybe because of chippy leads. By the way,
all samples were made out of one text file (some readme.txt,
found on Manwe's computer, loaded as a sample in St3).
The title is dedicated to my friend Trouble, who is big fond
of chip-tunes.

15. Trouble (Manwe)
This 10-kilobyte chip-tune was made for Trouble's birthday intro
(assembled by Prog/Unv, GP7/Unv, Tangy and I). Unfortunately I can not
boast of being the author of melody, which you're listening to - I just
have tracked it. Originally I heard this melody in my childhood on an
old compact-cassette, recorded down from Yamaha MSX computer. It seems
to be a music from some of the games. Nevertheless, I was so charmed
by this melody, that it was occasionally playing somewhere in my head
during all these years. At last I have set my mind free by transferring
the melody to tracker :)

16. Froggy Theme (Tangerine)
Very cheezy synthy-pop chip-tune. Personally, I don't like
it at all ;). But why not to put it on a cheezy disk?
(btw, another XM converted to S3M)

17. Swop (Manwe)
Here is the track for 64k-intro "Swop" by Proxium. 14 kb packed size.
Do you recognize resonant-sounds, which came from "ChipFly" and
"Fly Over Misty Mountains"? Now they sound a little bit more angry :).

18. FunTro (Manwe)
Just 8 kb packed size! Funky chip-tune for "FunTro" 64k-intro by
Universe.

Greets to: Universe, Proxium, PFC, Draft Crew, T-Rex and all friends.
