■ ABOUT THE INTRO ■───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

This is the quick reference for my first 4KB Intro which was coded for
the Assembly'94 4KB Intro Competition.
It is very likely that we (Dust) will release another version which will
have Adlib Sound, full XMS/HIMEM support and error-messages. That wasn't
possible in this version because of the 4KB limit. The other intro is not
going to be much longer than 5KB, though.
There may also the SOURCE-CODE coming along with that version depending
on how many people are interested in it.
The question what happens during the long time until the intro starts is
easy to answer: the fractal is calculated (rotating & zooming is enough
real-time calculations) and all tables for execution are set up.
■ HOW TO GET IT GOING ■───────────────────────────────────────────────────────

In order to get it going, you'll need the following:
∙ preferably a 486, but it does also run on a normal 386
∙ a standard VGA
∙ about 3MB of XMS and 512KB of Base Memory (a PC with 4MB)
∙ A clean configuration. You can also have one that does only use
HIMEM.SYS, but you cannot use more than 192KB of XMS -> no smartdrive
∙ about 4KB of diskspace
■ TROUBLESHOOTING ■───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

If it doesn't run (i.e. you start it and are back to DOS immediately)
you have (or don't have) one or more of the following:
∙ a 386 or higher processor
∙ not enough XMS memory (your PC needs 4MB altogether)
∙ not enough Base Memory (you'll need more than 512KB)
∙ the wrong configuration: remember to have a clean boot (press F5 while
booting if you have MS-DOS 6.0 or higher), or a HIMEM-configuration. If
you use an Expanded Memory Manager such as EMM386 or QEMM it won't run!
∙ enough time to wait for the start-up message to disappear
If it hangs during execution or afterwards, you have the wrong
configuration.
