-= INCUBATOR =- Author: canmom Title: Incubator Year: 2025 Party: Revision Compo: Animation/Video Runtime: 1m25s Resolution: 1080p Encoding: H.264/MP3 Tools used: Blender, Ableton Live With the exception of the brief smoke ring, all effects are created using Geometry Nodes in Blender 4.4.0. The 'differential growth' effect was inspired by Seanterelle on Youtube, modified to be constrained by a mesh so I can grow specific target shapes. The fluid splash effect is an XPBD particle sim with various functions to push the particles around. Hopefully soon we'll get volume advection in Blender, but for now we make do! All 3D assets created by me (canmom). I modelled the 'doll' character for a previous project and rigged her using Blender's Rigify addon. Other assets were made for this project. Rendered in Cycles at max 1024 samples, noise threshold 0.01, and denoised using OpenImageDenoise. Approx rendertime 15s-45s per frame on RTX 4070Ti with OptiX acceleration. The erhu (bowed instrument) in the soundtrack is real. (It's kinda rough - hopefully by next year I'll be able to play with more skill!) Other instruments are generated by Ableton.
