Welcome to our very first production, a demo called 'DISTANCE'.
RADON is a fairly new group, barely past its first year. Throughout
the whole last year we have been planning and developing this demo,
although until this spring, nothing had been done and on some points
it even seemed that nothing would be done - laziness, studying etc.
But thanks to Abdominal's hard work we have finally completed our
one year goal and finished this demo. Well, what to say about the
demo itself? It is not quite the same we planned of it at first,
but probably a way better. See it yourself and decide whether it was
worth it or not.
Some of the graphics were taken from public libraries. If this demo
will be shown on the big screen, our hard work has paid off, no matter
the place it wins.

To run 'DISTANCE', you need at least:
- 386/SX
- VESA compatible SVGA-card (640x480x256c)
- 2.0 Mb raw/XMS/EMS memory (+800kb for SB)
- Some 600 kb of free base memory
Although this demo may run on some 386s, at least 486/66 is HEAVILY
recommended. This is due to the fact that some of the effects need
heavy calculations which in turn require a fast computer for the
demo to be entertaining and relatively enjoyable to watch. It's no
point watching this demo on a slow computer.

This demo uses IGUANA's DemoVT to play music, due to the unfortunate
fact that none of us has a GUS, which means that we haven't been able
to code our player routines for GUS. So, rather than using our own
RadonPlay (and disappoint all you GUS owners out there), we decided
to use a player with similar capabilities to our own, and which would
also work on GUS. Hope you find this acceptable, since it has nothing
to do with our coders' laziness...this will probably be the case with
our future projects, unless something dramatic should happen to our
income.
Like so many others, we are proud to use TRAN's PMODE - BIG thanx go
to him!
If your computer does not have a VESA compatible bios, but can handle
svga modes, you must load a vesa driver to be able to see the svga
routines.
VESA modes are only used in the beginning of the demo. All other
routines (with the exception of endscreen julia) run in 320x240x256c
tweaked mode.
This demo SHOULD work with raw, HIMEM, EMM, QEMM (raw,A20,V86). If
possible, use HIMEM or raw, because this demo runs faster under them.
If any problems should occur, try to make a clean boot. If that won't
help, it won't probably run on your machine, no matter what you'll try.
But hey, hardware is so damn cheap today...just buy a new computer!
Note that you must have EMS if you want to hear something from your
SB.
If any kind of weird behavior is encountered during or after running
Distance, try killing all unnecessary TSR programs. Turning Qemm's
stealth feature off should also solve some problems.
