Beam Racer by JAC! [web]
>>> Beam Racer <<< My first Atari VCS demo for the 4k Oldschool Demo Compo at Revision 2011 in Saarbrücken. Created using WUDSN IDE, MADS, GRAFX2, STELLA. Credits: ======== Code, Design and graphics by JAC!/Peter Dell. Sound by Qotile/Paul Slocum For updates and more information visit http://www.wudsn.com. Trivia: ======== About one and half years ago I received the book "Racing the Beam - The Atari Video Computer System" by Nick Montfort and Ian Bogost as a birthday present from Tigerduck. After reading the book I understood that the real nerds lived in the early 80ies and that what they achieved using 128 bytes of RAM and 2.5 bytes of screen memory is simply unbelievable. This system comes with nothing - absolutely nothing. No OS, no libraries, no font, no graphics, no DMA, no interrupts. All you have is 4k ROM. Now in 2011, when my WUDSN IDE development environment was able to create VCS code and graphics, I decided to do something on VCS for Revision. I never imagined it would be so hard - but finally I made it - again ;-) System Requirements: ==================== The demo requires 4K ROM and an NTSC or PAL Atari VCS. The download archive contains the two 4k ROMs plus the Stella Emulator for both Windows 32bit and 32bit so you can run it directly by clicking the batch script without further installation. Greetings: ========== Noice, Trilobit, Wamma and all other active Atarians. Thanks: ======= Amstari and accousticguitar on AtariAge for test on the real machine.
