Rebel Final Demo - Zenith (Release date: 12/05/1993)
-----------------------------------------------------------
So there you have it, our final demo. We're breaking up, due
to lack of time, lack of inspiration and lack of energy.
Coded in approximately 24 hrs of solid coding (spread over
about 7 days.) Nothing much to be said that isn't already
said in the demo. (Apart from what you will now read -
hopefully)

If you encounter any problems running the demo, please check
the following:

1: That you do NOT have QEMM loaded in memory.
(Consider yourself lucky to have enough memory to
need QEMM in the first place)
oh.. and QEMM is a registered trademark belonging to
Quarterdeck. (and all that other legal jargon)

2: That any useless (all) TSR's are removed from memory.

3: That your computer is at least 12mhz 286 (absolute minimum)
With VGA/SVGA and monitor (Soundblaster card preferred)

4: That you've got the whole archive - no files missing.

Files you should have are: (and you gotta have all of them!)
                                ZENITH.DOC
                                ZENITH.EXE
                                REBEL.001 REBEL.009 REBEL.017
                                REBEL.002 REBEL.010 REBEL.018
                                REBEL.003 REBEL.011
                                REBEL.004 REBEL.012
                                REBEL.005 REBEL.013
                                REBEL.006 REBEL.014
                                REBEL.007 REBEL.015
                                REBEL.008 REBEL.016
(You'll probably be thinking - Why so many files?
        - our answer? We couldn't be bothered stacking them together)

5: Check That you havn't left your brain in the fridge.

6: And that you really do have 20x20 vision.

If the demo is too slow or you encounter mass flicker problems, try
selecting no-sound.. or getting a faster computer or atleast VGA card.
ie: Don't be a cheapskate and buy a sloooow old VGA card (Speaking from
experience here) .. certain brands could be noted.

Additions/Modifications to demo: (not necessarilly improvements)
-----------------------------------------------------------
        * PC Speaker/DAC/Soundblaster/Soundblaster Pro Support
          (Using Mark Cox's MODOBJ routines)
        * 2619 lines of spaghetti code (Only kidding Bitstream :)
        * Successfully pushed C++ to its limits (many times over)
        * Extra long greets to prevent any names from being missed.
        * Demo can now co-exist with other files peacefully.
        * DOC file modified to be less offensive (harr harr)
        * Umm.. no others worth mentioning..

If you don't see your name in the greets - don't bother complaining, coz
there ain't nobody left to complain to. Thanx to constant harrassment by
people who don't know 'shit from clay' as far as coding goes (not that we
do either :) - we're finally fed up with putting up with uninterested, lazy,
brainless twerps (of course, we don't mean you!).

If you're stuck with PC-Speaker, don't hang yourself - go to your nearest
electronics dealer - and hang them! Or you might like to invest your
precious $5 in a build-it-yourself <D>igital to <A>nalog <C>onverter. It'll
give you all the absolutely unbelievable muzak you can almost hear in the
demo, crystal clear - and it you don't have to get a housing loan to buy it.
You can get the plans to build one (and it's dead easy - even you could do
it), from any half decent BBS that supports PD Soundblaster Files.

If your computer is REALLY slow, you'll probably be sitting around all day
waiting for the demo to load things every now and again - you can skip any-
thing you're bored to death by, by pressing any key - and it'll jump to the
next li'l stage in the demo - eventually.

Now that we've had our little session of abusing the public, I think it'd
only be fair to abuse ourselves a bit.

Yes, the demo may have the odd bug - no, we didn't bug test it - and no, it
won't format your hard-drive, so relax. Anything that happens abnormally,
take it as 'just the computer contributing it's bit where it can'.
We've had our fair share of technical hitches, so we can't see why you
shouldn't.

Now, sit down, breathe slowly, deeply - don't get a heart
attack.. this demo occupies over 900k of HDD space unpacked.
Even we didn't expect it to grow that large - next time we'll
know not to make it so big (hang on, there won't be a NEXT
TIME!)

Oh, and as happens almost every time we are foolish enough to have greets,
we'll have probably spelt one or two names wrong - if that's YOUR name, please
remember that most of this demo was coded between 1 and 3am, and so we were
in no mental state to bother about such trivialities.

If you have anything positive to say about this demo (which we don't expect
you to have - so don't strain yourself) - you can still try to post a message
to one of the people who helped make the demo - but don't expect a
flowery, complement-filled reply. (you'll get one anyway of course)

But apart from that, try as you might, enjoy our sub-amateur masterpiece
in disorganised programming - and remember, we've shut down our
complaints department - PERMANENTLY

Anyway it's 3am and i'm going to bed.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Take it easy, relax, unwind, etc.. and above all...
Stay cool pplz - Spunge.
