: Democracy'97 is a demoparty organized by COC and Mooze. The
: party will be held in Vuorelan ala-aste, Rinnepolku 1, Vuorela/
: Siilinjrvi, 31.1.97 - 2.2.97. (Map, see MAP.ASC)

Now, what would Finland, the promised land of demoscene, be :
without a demoparty. As it appears that nobody's planning to :
arrange one in nearly the whole spring, then why shouldn't we :
give it a try? :

: Democracy'97 is mainly going to be a normal, traditional scene
: event. People come, with or without hardware, some will attend
: the compos and some will make their productions at the partyplace.
: Compos will be held, voted, and prizes will be given. And finally
: people will go home.

: Mainly, that is. Besiden the normal activities we are planning
: to organize - of course - a bundle of fast compos, hard disk
: throwing, (possibly) watching films and all kinds of scifi stuff
: (Babylon 5, Star Trek). A boffer/latex tournament will also be
: held on saturday, along with a Magic: The Gathering tournament
: and other rolegames. We'll most likely be able to put together
: some kind of sales of food and refreshments.

: There will also be a rave, organized by Probe Magazine.

'::::: Rules & budget of the party :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::.

Naturally you'll come to the party to have fun. The entrance fee :
is the usual, 100fim, and it enables you to visit all the events :
held at democracy. Unfortunately we won't let girls in free this :
time because of the raves, rgp-stuff and voting problems. :

Money from the entrance fees will be used to prizes uncut after :
deducting our expenses. Since we have no real idea of the number :
of the participators, we won't define prizes in cash - percentages :
will be used instead. This way the more people we get, the :
bigger the prizes get - (not our wallets..) :
:
Rules: The biggest problem in creating the rules (and usually :
during the parties) is almost always alcohol. If we don't take :
it seriously, we risk stopping the party too early and :
possible damages to the facilities and equipment. Either way :
the prize money is at stake. In other words, boozing at the :
partyplace is forbidden. If you want to booze - ok, do it - :
as long as you don't do it inside and as long as you stay in :
reasonably good condition. Troublemakers, wall urinators etc. :
will be thrown out. Drugs and all that sort of things are of :
course forbidden. Smoking inside is not allowed. :

Another matter that requires rules is the equipment that :
already is at the partyplace or those that people bring with :
them. If you break anything, you pay for it. And you should :
also remember, that everything that the organizers must pay :
for comes out of the prize pool. Everyone is responsible of :
his/her gear and his/her own life :) - we won't compensate for :
any damaged or lost/stolen material/people. In short: we take :
no responsibility whatsoever of any damages that the :
participants cause. :

Third, we reserve the right to, if necessary, change or add :
these rules during the party. :
