Often considered the underdog of the compo schedule, text mode art is an important part of the demoscenes rich cultural heritage. For this instalment, we've collated and compressed the following compos Deadline 2024 / Nova 2025 / Revision / Plain PETSCII 2025 / Edison 2025 _______ ___. ___ _____. ______ ________ _\ _/______|¯¯ |_ ______ . __ ·/\\ //¯¯ ___||¯¯ __ Z_|¯¯ _____//¯¯__ Z¯¯ /_ _//¯¯____// \\/. ¯¯ ·| |___| |/___/¯ __/ _| |/ T T T |_______¯¯¯|¯ | \_ | ¯T Z/¯¯ \ ¯ _! |_| !_ Z/ | dS!____ _/__|\ ___!_____ /) ____\___ /| ___/ _____ !NE7 ¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯ /___/`¯¯¯¯¯ ¯ ¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯ /____/ ¯¯¯ (:__ ¯¯ ¯¯¯ ___:__) Code: · (__ . ___ h0ffman (engine) : _:____) Depeche (vectors) . We now use essentially a stripped down xbins file. Shove the .ans or .txt through PabloDraw and slice up the output a little. This resolved a to of issues and made the data a lot smaller. Special thanks to RobSmithDev for converting the one entry we had which was UTF-8!!! ** Teletext ** Developed this one on stream and it seemed I was lucky enough to have some pro's in the chat. The font we're using was put together by Xeron to get our closest match. Ended up being 8x10 and looks pretty good. Special thanks for Tunk / CRTC who helped loads with nailing the last of my rendering bugs. ** PETSCII ** The easiest of them all. Run the entries in C64 debugger and dump a rawtext output. Apart from some palette fun to support unique border colours, it was super simple. ** Plus/4 ** Interesting this one. The Plus/4 can have up to 121 colours while we are limited to a 16 colour display. To resolve this the converter creates a palette per char line. Worked for the one entry we had but if someone goes crazy on the colour, it will break it. ** Playscii ** A weird PC based art / game system which uses text mode art. The entry we had was using a C64 style font. Similar rendering as PETSCII but needed some tweaks to work. Anyway, all done. Enjoy. ** JOIN THE FUN ** http://twitch.tv/djh0ffman http://youtube.com/HoffmanYouTube ** CALL OUR BBS ** Details : https://www.retro32.com/retro32-bbs Address : bbs.retro32.com port 1337 WebClient : https://www.retro32.com/retro32-bbs-web-client
