First you might ask yourself wtf we called this project
"shice". Well, the answer is deeply hidden in the mystic
of german language. Someday we started to perfect our
speech by dint of finding new leet anglicisms to make
the .de efnet look a bit cuter. The german word
"Scheisse" (english "crap") so turns into "shice" and
because we know that our tunes sound extremely crappy,
we're presenting our self-critical attitude by naming
this piece of art this way.
Ok, some info about the player...It's lame Delphi 7
code, and you might experience some flickering of
the animated parts and your cpu might be very busy
while running it. If you want to ensure the performance
check out the three buttons between the volume meters.
You can turn off doublebuffering, the volume meters and
the scroller with them, so it should be no prob to
check out our tunes on slow machines.
The disk should run without any problems with Win9x
and WinNT/XP, and on any machine with at least 200mhz
and 16mb of ram (it should...we haven't tested it out,
because no one on earth still got such an old pc ;x).
It uses bass.dll by Ian Luck to assure a proper
playback.
Another small gimmick we implemented is mIRC DDE
support, so you can display the title of your
currently playing shice tune in your favourite irc chan.
(Well, this is a kind of senseless option, but hey...
we wanted to make it neat ;P). Just check out the
"mIRC Editor" (ALT+A in mIRC), then the task "Variables"
and add the line "%shicetrack". Under "Aliases" add
something like "/shice /me is listening to %shicetrack"
(without the quotation marks of course... ;) ) and
now you can enter in any channel window "/shice"
and get happy.
