A BabyTro? What the F....? ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Allright. It all started about 9 months ago. The Phantom was still with us and had a great idea for a new effect: a Voxel Body. Something like the usual Voxel Landscape, but in stead of stupid fractals looking like mountains we wanted those 'mountains' to look like a nice girl. Grin. Phantom was going to code it, but we needed the exact 'coordinates' for the body, and since SuaVe was the only one equiped with a girlfriend he was going to examine her (Wilma) very closely. We don't know *exactly* what happened, but while SuaVe was 'examining' Wilma, *something* went wrong, and Wilma got pregnant. The rest of Nostalgia (that's JAL and me, The REW) decided that it would be very funny and unique to make a BabyTro. The problem however was that this whole thing was going to be a surprise for SuaVe, so he couldn't help coding. So JAL had to do it all by himself. Luckily LaSerDance offered a helping hand. Later even AAP / AcmE helped us! But then... AAP drew some splendid graphics and suddenly he went to the United States for a month, without giving the graphics to JAL.... :( But, no reason to panic, cause Ricochet / AcmE happens to live in the same town as AAP does, so we asked him if he could break in to AAP's house and see if he could find the pictures. Alas, he couldn't find anything, and since the BabyTro was getting late we decided to go without AAP's font and graphics. We hope you like it. We do. :) 2. Statistics. ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Name : Robin Tijn de Bondt The BabyTro Released : 9 January 1995, 11:50 13 February 1995, 20:00 Weight : ± 3.75 kg ± 1044 kb Creators : Pettrie de Bondt (SuaVe) Kilian Hekhuis (JAL) Wilma Glas Richard Winkel (The REW) Michel van Elk (LSD) Mark Wegman (Lone Ranger) As you can see, it takes more people to make a BabyTro. Another big difference: releasing a BabyTro is more fun than creating one. With babies it's the other way around. 3. Nostalgia? What the F....? ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── We are a demogroup from the Netherlands. We were formed a couple of months before the BiZARRE! 94 party last year. Our aim was to enter the democompo, and finish up higher than Ground Zero, another Dutch group. Ground Zero didn't enter the compo, but we decided to continue our demo and guess what? We won. Since that moment everybody thinks that we are one of the best groups over here. People start screaming and yelling when we enter the building. Girls faint when we turn on our computers. Other groups are *extremely* nice to us. For example, AcmE is sooo nice to us that they gave us their PolyPlayer. Ofcourse, we already had our own player (which was already playing XMs when Vogue and Mr. H were still filling their diapers!), but we're using that PolyPlayer now. Just to be polite. However, The Phantom left us and SuaVe has some other things on his mind now. Leaves one coder and one musician. Hmmm... I think Ground Zero will beat us on BiZARRE! 95! :( Unbelievable. 4. We are looking for good coders. ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Yes, we are looking for good coders. 5. We are also looking for good graphics artists. ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Yes, we are also looking for good graphics artists. 6. René de Wijs (for excelent work on Tweety's Cage (now when is *your* baby coming?)) Bas van Schooten (errrr, yeah, what can I say?) LaserDance (you are a brilliant coder - now learn to code!) Aap (until he left...) Lone Ranger (a few more years and you're age fits your length) Daredevil (thanx for the sample we didn't use after all) Jester (if all Germans were like you I wouldn't dislike 'm so much) The REW (stop making chip tunes - compose some *real* music this time) SuaVe (okay, you've made a baby, so what - try making a *demo* for a change!) Wilma Glas (for releasing something *on time* instead of a month overdue) Giddy Aunt (for again *not* interfering with this production - now keep that prog progging!) The Specialist (now the only thing you'll have to do is find out what you are going to specialize in) Kristian Kievith (when are *you* going to be a daddy?) Nellie Splinter (the only one who knows the answer to the previous question) Sjaap (when are you going to buy a decent video card?) SimStim (okay, so your real name is rediculous - why's your handle too?) DickyDick (and when is your next new adventure coming?) June Hee (don't believe everything you see on television) ...and everyone who contributed to the BabyTro for making it a success And very special greetings to: The woman who invented pizza. (I ran into a feminist who made me change 'man' into 'woman', which proves once and for all that woman belong in the kitchen) Patrycja (who will never read this) Absolute anti-greetings to: Dom (you're a real bag-a-shit) Razor 1911 crew (and *I* wouldn't give a damn if you *chocked* on that lousy attitude!) (The above two people (Sector9 for Razor 1911) were the only two who reacted (very) negatively towards our request for logos.) Nostalgia greets: All groups and people who reacted positively on our request for greetings and logos and the support we got from many demo groups and individuals. Thanx again! 8. Trouble shooting. ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Problem : The demo won't run. Answer : Forget Windows, try running it under DOS. Problem : I don't hear music. Answer : Try turning on your stereo. Problem : Ok, I hear music now, but it sucks. Answer : Try turning off your stereo. Problem : The code sucks too! Answer : You must be refering to LaSerDance's part. 9. Questions we got after the release of this BabyTro. ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Q: How can these questions be in this file, which came with the BabyTro itself? A: Ehhh... yeah, well, it would take ages to explain that. Q: Wow! AAP / AcmE is a orang-utan? I didn't know that! A: NO DUMBO! 'AAP' is the Dutch word for 'Monkey' or 'Ape' and he didn't want his real face in the BabyTro (we know why!), so we thought of this original solution. Q: Ahhh... but what if AAP's handle had been 'Dickhead'... A: Ehhh... then this BabyTro would be an 'adult-only' production? Q: What tracker was used to track the 'music'? A: The REW uses PolyTracker, coded by Lone Ranger of AcmE. This tracker is still in development, so don't begg for a copy. (You can ofcourse *buy* a copy, but DON'T TELL LONE RANGER!!!!!) Q: Do you guys know all those people listed in the movie scroll personally? A: No! JAL had posted a textfile on Internet inviting people/groups to submit a logo or greetings. All people who reacted on that message are listed in the BabyTro. Q: Why did JAL send that message THREE times? A: Because JAL has been studying networks and computer communication for FOUR years, so he doesn't know how to send e-mail. Q: Were any of the messages bounced? A: Yes, there were some bounces. In fact, there were so many bounces, that the mail server at the Utrecht University nearly got overloaded. Q: Did JAL's sysop like that? A: No, he didn't. Q: A lot of the Danish organisers at the Party 4 were drunk afterwards. Do you know why that was? A: Yes. They were drunk because they took all the beer we were drinking with the N-Factor dudes...... :( Q: What are the future plans for Nostalgia? A: Ehhh... SuaVe and Wilma are getting maried soon, so we might do something like a Weddingtro. That's most probably going to be the second Weddingtro around, cause Trixter released one a couple of months ago. Then we're planning to release a Chip Tune Music Disk by The REW. So if you like that silly tune in the moviescroll..... (Note from JAL: also expect a BBS intro for our WHQ) Q: Why took it so long before JAL returned with some Cola on the last night before the release of the BabyTro? A: Because he forgot to take the last step when coming up the stairs... and he fell on flat on his face.... :) 10. Some wise words to remember by The REW. ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── 'The design sucks, The code sucks, The graphics suck, The music sucks, But it's the idea that counts, I guess...'. 11. Some wise words NOT to remember by The REW. ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── 'Het is geen geintje, het is geen flop!, Bij Harlekijn groeit het haar uit de verkeerde kant van z'n kop!' (Ik moet `m toch eens vragen hoe dat komt! :)) 12. Goodbye. ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Goodbye. I you want to congratulate SuaVe and Wilma with their son, send an e- mail to SuaVe: 9253@hsu1.hvu.nl. If you don't want to congratulate SuaVe and Wilma with their son, send an e-mail to fietsbel@lulviool.kankehommel.nl.
