There he sat. Two boxes in front of him. One had some slits,
with the other on top and flickering in depressing shades of
grey. The darkened rings around his eyes told a story of
long-endured boredom and withdrawal from society. Hope had
left his soul. There was no foreseeable change, not the
slightest incline to initiative.
But a gentle touch of color appeared on his face. It first
went by unnoticeable, being rather a feeling than a
perception. The slow, soft spectral fly-by then repeated,
becoming more intense. His stomach contracted in anticipation,
and, breathing faster, he reached forwards. His heartbeats
could be heard pounding as he pressed something.
Immediately, a burst of color shot straight out of the screen.
Music surrounded him with vivid pictures moving to the beat,
as he was lifted to a different plane and entered the world of
Hugi.
