. In 2014, i submitted my first entry to a demoparty EVER, !
to the 128 byte competition @ "Outline". It was called !
"Popcast" and aimed to show the beauty of the VGA default !
palette, that has 9 different shades for each of a set of !
24 colors (besides the 16 EGA colors and 16 gray shades). !
I figured if you pick one color, and just work with these !
shades, pretty decent results can be achieved without !
creating a custom color palette yourself. Back then, !
my x86 kungfu wasn't too advanced, and instead of going !
for real 3D i made it rather plain, but included a secret !
part (the dragon). !
!
Now, 6 years later, i thought it's time to show what the !
original "Popcast" was supposed to look like. The gap to !
128 bytes was used for high resolution and some MIDI chord !
progressions this time. Also, the geometry is changing a !
bit, depending on the time, closing the space until there !
is nothing left. Title, music, and colors are meant to !
express something, but that's up to your interpretation ;) !
!
Of course there is no other party to release this at, other !
than Outline ;) As a special bonus, the first part of the !
original "Popcast" is released as 64 bytes version, a bit !
optimized for speed and ESCapable. "XTC" itself comes with !
a version for FreeDos (also: WinXP Dos & MS Dos, no sound) !
Please not that this time, no really crazy sizecoding took !
place, i pretty much stopped when i reached 128 bytes in !
both versions, likewise with the 64 bytes which is a bit !
older already. !
