there is not a long history to tell, yet. deranged started somewhere in '97
as an idea from beryl and tristan to get active on the scene. beryl was
mailswapping for a quite long time now and tristan tried to make music with
fasttracker. when beryl started mailswapping with some polish sceners, nor
asked to join as an asciiartist. as we were in need of one, we didn't hesi-
tate long and made him part of our group. later, when beryl got an internet
account, he got in contact with wolle, which joined as a coder. that's it
for now, hope there's more to come in the future. nor is now known as
picasso. the internet-site of deranged is now http://www.deranged.de. don't

hardware requirements:

the interface needs at least a pentium cpu to run properly (yes ... this is
the result of unoptimized c code :). it uses the nowadays nearly forgotten
mode-x, so you don't need any vesa extensions, a simple vga card is enough.
oh ... and a soundcard (soundblaster or gus) would be nice :) .
well ... maybe you will also need a reset key ... ;)

before you run "i" the first time, you must use config.exe to - yes, right
- to setup the interface for your computer. after the credits part (btw.
you can skip it by pressing ESC), you will find yourself in the main menu.
here you have the following choices:
CURSOR UP/DOWN selects a module
ENTER well ... plays it
CURSOR RIGHT/LEFT forward/rewind one pattern (only when playing a song,
of course)
ESCAPE back to main menu (when pressed while playing a song)
or quit to your favorite os (when pressed in main menu)
? yes ... it has a hidden part
