This file contains informations on how to run this demo, and other
less important subjects. So if you have any problem to make 'After Death'
perfectly work on your computer (I hope this won't be the case !), please
refer to the next paragraph to find the solution.

│ 2. REQUIREMENTS │
└────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘

You can't expect this production to run in good conditions on a slow
machine. To appreciate it fully, you need more precisely :

  - at least a 486DX2 processor; a pentium is HIGHLY recommended.
  - a local bus or PCI VGA fast graphic card (no SVGA needed).
  - it's possible to run this demo with or without any memory manager, such
as EMM386. But you need about 4500Ko of extended memory in ONE SINGLE
BLOCK (that is to say 'not fragmented' and in full EMS or XMS), so you
will perhaps have to remove Smartdrive (or force it to allocate less
memory; 1Mo seems to work well, and it really speeds up some loadings).
  - a sound card isn't necessary to run the demo, but strongly recommended!
Gravis Ultrasound and Sound Blaster compatible cards are supported.
The card is detected thanks to the ULTRASND or BLASTER environment
variable ; if it is not present in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, it won't be
found ! (as a consequence, there won't be any sound). And if you want to
remove all cards without modify your config files, just type :
'SET ULTRASND=' and 'SET BLASTER=' before running the demo.
Stereo is supported on SB pro cards.
    Warnings:
    - SB users need about 700Ko more extended memory for the samples.
    - GUS users need 512Ko of DRAM.

After Death has been successfully tested on several computers, with
various graphic (Cirrus, ET4000, Matrox) and sound (none, SB Pro, GUS Max)
cards. Problems have been encountered using SBOS; but if you are the happy
owner of a Gravis Ultrasound, just use it!

Notice though that we are not liable for any damage which could happen.

  Last point :

we're fed up with all those demos where it's impossible to skip one
part when it bores without going back to DOS or even sometimes re-booting
the computer. You can so press ENTER whenever you want to jump to the next
part (but don't use it the first time : the whole demo is only about 5'30
long !), or ESC to quit. When jumping from one part to the next, the music
  remains synchronized :)
