perhaps the 1st aga demo (hummm, for me it's Digital wich had done the first aga demo), but absolutly ugly and crap

Yea, it's ugly, but imagine coding without any AGA documentation. They were not yet released when this demo was made.
Still, the demo is very ugly.

Ugly maybe. But it was great to finally see the use of more than 4 bitplanes in an amiga demo, plus the music is really cool :)

I remember waiting ages for the first amiga demos. i was a bit disappointed with this, it's basically an average ocs demo with 8bit backgrounds mostly. But there were some impressive bits still, such as some moving full-screen pics fading into each other. I'd like to see a pc doing that smoothly even now :)

Hi guys,

Thanks for your comments. I agree that the first demo from our Hoi Saga trilogy wasn't a masterpiece, but it was the first real AGA demo, indeed created without any documentation. We were mainly game developers, no demo wizards. If you're interested, you can read our story at metinseven.com.

Cheers,

Metin

Thumb up for pioneer spirit! Who needs docs? Not team pokeme, and not team hoi either ;-)

I think it looked OK. The more-or-less usual stuff for that time done in AGA - cool enough?
And the tune is cool!

Quite nice for first AGA demo. I like the particle dots at the beginning. Dancing polygons and fade screens nice too.

I love how every single thing in this one just screams early Nineties :)

Pretty crappy on the visual side but fucking ace track! Indeed like Galaxy 2 Galaxy or some other UR stuff.

Definitely deserves a thumb! Great music and I like the dot effects at the beginning. Rest of the demo isn't that bad either. And coding this without any docs available sure deserves some extra props!

This made a real impression on me back in 1993. Music is still super nice.

I found it rather ugly
my 1st aga demo :)

Run in PAL, not NTSC mode! How did you Americans cope back then??

As for a review: A very relaxing demo for me. Something about the combination of the music and ambitions of the group with what was very new hardware at the time. Not ugly at all.
