Cool. Software canvas, without WebGL?
Yup, it's software rendering. This time we used a plain old textured triangle rasterizer for most things, and a simple particle drawing routine. Damage optimized the SoundBox player code quite a bit during our last three intros, and did some customization to the tracker as well.
Looks like the bad parts of 90s and 2000s. I applaud the different tech on principle but maybe it should be used for stuff that's interesting.
Error from the Deep
I loved the music at the beginning, it was mysterious and fitting the ufo theme... but then the happy ending kicked in and it was very confusing. Happy ufos? Anyway, gotta appreciate the effort of not going shader route; it gives a unique look. Unfortunately, it feels a bit rough and in the end, the opportunities of software rendeirng were not fully taken advantage of: it was still so close to shaders that it just looked a bit like a cheapo shader. Anyway, solid thumb for the mysterious initial part of the intro!
i don't know. does not live up to it's title in terms of content. it's not horrible but it looks like straight out of the 90s tho :D oink.
really ugly looking scenes. good example that what you render is more important than how you render it :P

Considering it is SW rendering, the output looks quite clean. No holes between the polys, z-sorting errors or other staple glitches of homemade rendering algorithm. I like the chord progression in the beginning. Nice UFO vibes
